Summary: Had it for one day in a sealed box (.69 cubic feet) running on an MRP-1000 at 2 ohms. Sub died after 30 min of moderate use. It was probably just this sub, but I won't be buying another alpine sub ever again. They don't seem to be able to guarantee that their subs can actually handle the rated RMS power. I had more luck with a sony explode when I was a teenager than with this thing. This is what I get for cheating on sundown.
Summary: I bought this item but didn't play it yet. Still I'm waiting because i'm going to get new car (Honda accord). anyways I opened box and shocked this thing is beast huge magnet and around 25LB. Friend of mind got Type R. I really like the way type R sound. When Type R with powerful amp. It will destroy any same class sub brand RF or kicker doesn't matter. It hammers like there is no tomorrow. no doubt about it. Alpine makes industry leading subs, head unit.....everything.
Great sub for the price!! This sub is for anyone who want serious sound!!!!

Summary: Great product! And superior sound Alpine has really come along way the type R 10 out basses any sub I've previously owned A+ product. This speaker has no trouble hitting the lowest bass in fact at high volume it sounds even better. Good luck finding an amp to push it to the limits.
Summary: I have 1 type r 10d 4 in a ported center console and powered by a h ifonics brx1600.1d mono amp @ 2 ohms delivering 1200 rms watts and this sub takes . It like a champ. These people that are saying that these subs are no good either dont know how to adjust their amp and are clipping the sub or do not have them in the correct box. The worse thing you can do to a sub is under power . It and clip it trying to make up for the underpowering.
Big bass subwoofer. Won't play with "regular" music.

Summary: I previously owned the 12" version of this but decided that space was more important and got this to replace. The 12" is worth EVERY EXTRA PENNY. This is a good deal quieter and it just doesn't seem to have the range that the 12 did. Granted, this is a great subwoofer and it will handle 1000 RMS. The way it sounds, it is TOO DEEP for my taste. It's like there's a low pass filter set at 60hz somewhere in the subwoofer or something.
Summary: 4 star subs. They look and feel a lot Better then they actually perform. From a durability stand point these woofers are horrible. Don't take much of a beating. SQ wise they're ok, they do dig pretty deep and get loud but the coils heat up quick and I'm only pushing half it's RMS rating CLEANLY in a proper sealed box. JL 500/1v2 is my amp. Can Barely hear it. Your gonna wanna go ported but I stay stray from Alpine for $140 and get something else.
Summary: Do not buy these if you want to use the power rating as a guide put a Kenwood 9106d on a 10 rated at 1000 watts and blew 2 of the back to back now I'm out 140$ cause they false advertise the power they handle
