  • Pros: Improved accuracy and crispness over the stock speakers.
  • Cons: Don't know of any.

Better than expected

Richard Chen, Amazon
13 November 2005
  • Summary: I have not been in the market for car audio in over 8 years. The last time I bought car stereo speakers I was very unimpressed with Alpine's line of speakers. Instead I went with Boston Acoustics 767 speakers which sounded substantially better. I've always liked Alpine decks and amplifiers, so when I blew out my front Infinity Gold speakers, I thought I would give Alpine another listen to. In the store they sounded okay (at least better than the competing brands).

Good sound

P. Pacifico, Amazon
6 November 2004
  • Summary: These alpine's are very affordable, excellent speakers that anyone can enjoy. The highs are where these speakers shine, when they're given their RMS. I run two of them with 40 watts to each speaker and I think for the money these sound excellent.

Hard to find better all-around speakers for the price

loce_the_wizard "loce_the_wizard", Amazon

  • Summary: I recently replaced the four factory speakers in the Durango with four Alpine SPS-170A 6.75 inch speakers. I selected the Alpines for several reasons: I wanted very good sound but am on a budget; I wanted speakers that would be easy to install; and I wanted durable equipment. My first inkling that this might be a very good move was when I held one of these rock solid speakers in one hand the a freshly removed factory speaker in the other.

Almost as good as a component set!

cspu, epinions.com
11 June 2003
  • Summary: Amazing sound from a set of coaxial speakers that retail for less than $100, I'd buy them again in a heartbeat!
  • Pros: Fit "oversize" openings, swivel tweeter, good sound, easy installation
  • Cons: Included grills are pretty useless. Low RMS power rating.

  • Excerpt: These speakers a great for any car and significantly better than stock speakers you may find in your doors. They have quite a tight punch bass but i have found that its best to let 6x9`s/subwoofer take the bass and use these beasty speakers for the medium to high range frequinces. Top buy, dont go to halfords though. R > I > P off!
