Summary: Back in the Dawn of time for high end car stereo, I used to sell Alpine products. Eclipse, Harmon Kardon, Fujitsu Ten, Sony, Rockford Fosgate, Hifonics, Zapco, Precision Power.... a lot of the major the brands before most of them started being assembled in China.
Summary: These alpine's are very affordable, excellent speakers that anyone can enjoy. The highs are where these speakers shine, when they're given their RMS. I run two of them with 40 watts to each speaker and I think for the money these sound excellent.
Hard to find better all-around speakers for the price

Summary: I recently replaced the four factory speakers in the Durango with four Alpine SPS-170A 6.75 inch speakers. I selected the Alpines for several reasons: I wanted very good sound but am on a budget; I wanted speakers that would be easy to install; and I wanted durable equipment.
Summary: I have not been in the market for car audio in over 8 years. The last time I bought car stereo speakers I was very unimpressed with Alpine's line of speakers. Instead I went with Boston Acoustics 767 speakers which sounded substantially better.
Excerpt: These speakers a great for any car and significantly better than stock speakers you may find in your doors. They have quite a tight punch bass but i have found that its best to let 6x9`s/subwoofer take the bass and use these beasty speakers for the medium to high range frequinces.
