Seriously...It's a 20 Dollar radio

Jay Dee Gee, Amazon
  • Summary: A lot of the reviewers here are expecting Gold quality at a Bronze price. This item was installed in a 35 year old farm tractor. The tuner works great, as does the SD card slot. I expect it will work as long as the last 20 dollar radio (10 years) I can't imagine there is much of a market for knob style radios. You kinda just get what you get. For all the folks that need a radio to perform flawlessly, you better expect to pay a little more than 20 bucks.

Don't waste your time

Eric Starr, Amazon
5 March 2015
  • Summary: I know it's only 20 bucks but your throwing 20 bucks away. And the effort of ordering and installing is worth more than that. I purchased this because the specs say it's 80 watts per channel x 2 channels and I needed a shaft style radio. No way it has 80 watts per channel! Ive had 5 watt stereos give me four times the volume of this. I can't hear it when I'm driving in my old truck down the road. I don't know how they get away with saying 80 watts!

Terrible sound, reception & USB functions

Jeffrey Christensen, Amazon
13 January 2015
  • Summary: I was optomistic when I received the stereo as it felt 'heavy' and built of good quality. The plastic was decent and it came with a couple optional brackets to help it fit snug. I ordered this for an old '74 truck that had a dual know AM radio and didn't want to cut the opening for a newer stereo design. While getting it in was fairly easy, it did need additional brackets in order to fit snugly and kept from vibrating while driving.

1/06/2015 Don't buy it is junk. Wired up radio ...

Bow, Amazon
6 January 2015
  • Summary: 1/06/2015 Don't buy it is junk. Wired up radio and installed and did not work. Found radio came wired with a 240volt ac 3amp fuse that was burnt out. Had to replace fuse holder so I could install a 7.5 amp dc fuse. After turning radio on and off and trying all buttons for about ten minutes it came on. Shut it off never came on again. JUNK.

do not expect it to sound like a pioneer or kenwood

Rafael Pantin, Amazon
12 December 2014
  • Summary: It is what it is, do not expect it to sound like a pioneer or kenwood, it is a cheap radio that has a slot and USB ports, watt ratting is over estimated it does not have that power published no way, and shaft to shaft is 5.5 not 6.5 inches as published, it sounds, can hear my alternator in the back ground between songs, but then again it is what it is, and you get what you pay for, I bought it for an old car, the oem went out and now at least I got to play the music I...

Shafted by the shaft mount. Center section is much too large for standard mount.

Steve M. Close, Amazon
7 November 2014
  • Summary: Edit: Now that it's installed (after some cutting of center console, which makes me wonder why I didn't just cut it out entirely and go with a modern design) it sounds pretty good. Oddly, the USB side sounds better than the card side. Balance knob is like a three position switch--right speaker on/both speakers on/left speaker on. Display is way too bright. Still, for the price, it's great. A definite improvement on the Spark-O-Matic that was in the car originally.

Too Cheap

Jeffrey S., Newegg
1 November 2014
  • Summary: Pyle really botched it on this one. I expected it to be cheaply made based on the price, but unfortunately there really isn't anything else out there for 2 shaft style radios that cost less than $500. If Pyle was smart, they would charge $30 more for it and put a little more quality into the design to make it nice. A quality digital tuner, a stereo amplifier, and an input jack would have made all the difference for me.
  • Pros: 2 - Shaft Style Radio. MP3 player sounds good at low volume.
  • Cons: Its just too cheap. Uses mono receiver and amplifier IC's. Analog variable capacitor tuner is weak and drops in and out when moving.

May get you by

Brian L., Newegg
15 October 2014
  • Summary: There are very few new shaft radios out there for older vehicles. Not much to choose from. This may get you by until you find a good used shaft radio.
  • Pros: Will read various memory cards, priced right for the quality. arrived quickly. Easy to install. Newegg has always been a favorite store of mine.
  • Cons: Still sounds like a Pyle, tone not bass or treble leave one wanting for digital quality. The radio came without knobs as if it was a demo.

Don't buy his item

Scott McDaniel, Amazon
15 July 2014
  • Summary: Rarely do I write a negative review but this is worth writing about. I am restoring a 1967 and really needed a radio that looked the time period. I figured little mods to my dash with a post radio. After the pain of installing, the radio will not play iPhone/smartphone/USB does not work. It is too much trouble to send back. I bought 2 for another project truck.. The other will go in the trash...

Not worth $2, Waste of $20

April M. Watson, Amazon
16 June 2014
  • Summary: Worst radio I've ever seen. The tuner does not pick up at all and the digital media have no way of being tuned so the music is either flat or "tinny" depending on the audio track. I wouldn't recommend this product to someone that I disliked.
