Poor execution of a stereo by Pioneer

trad4airtime, Amazon
16 August 2013
  • Summary: The basic functions of the unit are good. The voice recognition is poor. The stereo tuner is good. The low voltage outputs could be better at this price. Screen is nice and the operation system is fast. The Ipod integration is good but there are some issues. When using the tuner, my Ipod is always on and tends to lock up. This could be just an Ipod issue. Also, I can not access my play lists like you can on other units.

Good audio but don't buy if you want a strong Nav or BlueToooth performer.

seahawkbubba, Ebay

  • Summary: Pretty good unit for bringing my 2000 Suburban into the modern age. Pros: - Pandora, Aha radio and XM are well integrated and sound great. - The tuner is a vast improvement over the older Pioneer single din unit it replaced, with much better sound and reception. Cons: - GUI seems clunky and dated, but not a deal breaker. - Nav is not great, the Motion X GPS Drive on my phone is much better.

Nice

Box, Amazon
19 January 2013
  • Summary: You will not be disappointed with the crazy HAL 2000 abilities of this unit. My biggest issues with this unit is the lack of a true dimming option. Who doesn't want to bask in the glory of the dash board light but this thing is freaking crazy bright. Then there is the voice control or lack there of. You will just find yourself screaming at your radio in a vain attempt to communicate your wishes as the unit just smugly ignores you.

Dont buy if your going For GPS feature

Michael Thomas, Amazon
23 November 2012
  • Summary: Have owned this unit for about 10 months now and most is very good, but the navigation is just the worst. A labratory Monkey with a map could get you to your destination better. The only saving grace on the navigation is it has a red line that goes to your destination, so you end up using that to get to where your going faster. Sirius radio is great, as well as the hands free phone. Just wish the navigation was alot better.

Slightly slow response, but good unit

RobbyD, Amazon
28 September 2012
  • Summary: I have a 2011 Subaru STI hatchback, and it came with the stock crappy, no-nav stereo. After reading about how the quality of my speakers were ok in my car and that they are just underpowered with the crappy stock unit, I decided to go with this unit. Just based on numbers, I knew I would get more sound out of this unit, but the clarity is so much better from this unit and power seams to be so much more "clean" (if you will) to the speakers.

WOW is it bad

A. Josephs "GadgetNYC", Amazon
10 August 2012
  • Summary: The gps is the most inaccurate and difficult to use I have ever seen. The VR is miserable. Haven't seen a sw upgrade since last summer. This is the last pioneer product I will buy.

  • Conclusion: This is a great unit, i have had Alpine, Kenwood, Sony, Eclipce and other head units. And this Pioneer is just as good if not better. I like the ipod hook up it lets me control my ipod very easy and it is fast to load up my muzic and u can get good sound out of it with the amp crossover that is built in, over all its a very good head unit.

Great Overall Unit with a few Small Issues.

Nick from VA, Sonic Electronix
3 June 2012
  • Conclusion: The biggest problem is the lack of bluetooth kicking in consistently. If bluetooth doesn't automatically connect to your phone, you need to go in to the bluetooth settings, click on your phone, then select a button that tells it to reconnect. If they had a shortcut on the main screen to toggle your primary phone this wouldn't be a problem, but this is a major headache when you're driving.

  • Conclusion: Expensive but it's big and has ALOT of features. I've had this for almost a year and it's really amazing. The screen is huge, it looks flush and stock with my 07 Nissan Altima Pros: -Good user interface -Touchscreen -HD Radio, aha radio, musicsphere -Lots of equalizers and adjustments you can make to improve your speakers -GPS never got me wrong -FREE LIFETIME TRAFFIC UPDATES AMAZING (you'll see major highways and constructions blink different colors it's really cool)...
