22 March 2014
  • Summary: I wanted a simple HU nothing to fancy. I have the exact same unit in my 4-runner except it is not a double din unit.
  • Pros: It does everything I need, looks great. Controls are simple to use.
  • Cons: Display can be a bit difficult to read when in direct sunlight. Controls take a little time to get use to.

fairly nice unit

jsbac, Crutchfield
22 March 2014
  • Summary: This receiver is fairly nice and installation was fairly straight forward. I do have a couple of issues though: #1) Radio reception has diminished GREATLY from the stock unit. Local radio stations have lots of static and reception when travelling between towns is almost non-existent. #2) I stream a lot from my phone to the receiver. This works very well, except there are frequently split-second breaks in the stream.
  • Pros: -easy installation -configurable colors to match the rest of your vehicle -bluetooth
  • Cons: -bad reception -occasional breaks while streaming via bluetooth

Sony WXGT90BT Receiver

Tom, Crutchfield
21 March 2014
  • Summary: Installed this receiver in my 2004 Chevy Colorado. Install went smooth. I watched a couple of Youtube videos on radio installs for Colorado's first and the instructions supplied by Crutchfield were adequate. No major issues on the install to report. It does take a little getting use to when setting the sound options in the menu. Love the bluetooth and ability to play my pandora stations. Very statisfied.
  • Pros: If you can use a few hand tools you can install this unit. The bluetooth pairs easily and the sound really cranks out.
  • Cons: Can't say there are any cons.

Pleased

JB, Crutchfield
19 March 2014
  • Summary: Does everything I really wanted. The blue tooth phone and music work flawlessly. I like the knob volume control and the many color and sound options. The APP mode is more of a gimmick.
  • Pros: Does everything I wanted.
  • Cons: APP mode is useless.

Ready to rock the house!

Hank, Crutchfield
19 March 2014
  • Summary: What a great little unit! Packing a punch for the better than average listener - why do you need all that power? I matched this unit up with a Kenwood powered subwoofer and a set of 4 Rockford Punch speakers, and this dude is more than happy! Best part, I had to install in stages. Unstalling the head unit first, I was amazed how much better the car system sounded. If all you have to spend is a couple hundred bucks, this is the place to start.
  • Pros: Lots of features packed into one package. After a couple months of use, the top of the list is flexibility (can be run alone, powered subwoofer (like I did) or as a pre-amp to a full amp set-up. Internal power for main speakers is plenty clean for my ears. Having a 7-band EQ is awsome to fine-tune, and the listener position is great too. When activated, the sound seems to come from everywhere! Perfectly balanced.
  • Cons: Hard to get used to the navigation at first - but once the pattern is figured out, it's not hard to operate.

Surprisingly Good

Danny O., Crutchfield
17 March 2014
  • Summary: I had been a die hard Pioneer fan for over a decade, but when my factory unit ate 2 of my CDs, I gave this Sony a try based on its wealth of features, strong reviews and killer price. No other unit I considered had as many source options at this price. I needed a double DIN unit with Bluetooth and Android compatibility for driving crowded New Jersey roads and satellite radio for family trips. The Sony does it all with great sound.
  • Pros: Awesome sound; tons of sources; great sound; foolproof Android compatibility; myriad sound-shaping tools; impressive build quality... Did I mention how good it sounds??
  • Cons: Display is useless in bright, direct sunlight; single line display not as slick as other units available; navigating menus and sub-menus takes time, not to be done while driving; scrolling through tons of sources takes heaps of time
