Good Head Unit

J. Jensen, Amazon
3 March 2014
  • Summary: Overall, I have to say that it is good. Sound quality is on par for the price range. However I only use USB media. Never tried IPOD or anything else. Bluetooth sounds good. The reason for the 3 star rating and not 5 is because of a few key problems I noticed so far. First off is the size of the unit. Installation was slightly more challenging than other head units I've used in the past. It is wider and taller than a standard din sized unit.

Looks real nice, sounds okay-ish. Needs more options for EQ control and especially for disabling the annoying beeping sounds.

Justin T. Flick, Amazon
27 November 2013
  • Summary: It's a very decent radio for the price. The sound is a bit flat and if I was going to consider putting one of these in my other car, I would definitely need to find a way to bypass the irritating "faceplate reminder beep" that Sony puts on all of their head units. The install was easy. My stock deck was a double DIN, so I bought a pocket and a OEM wiring harness which made everything plug and play.

iPod overheats

Astre Kometes "Astre Kometes", Amazon
17 February 2013
  • Summary: 2/17/13: Works great, fairly easy to get the hang of. It's not super obvious how to set pre-set stereo stations as there are no external buttons for this. The remote is the easiest way to set and/ or switch stations. I love that my ipod is inside the stereo and charges in there. There's no need to take it out of my car unless I need to sync it and there's none of the mess with cords.

Lacking independent Sub out. UI difficult to learn/use.

P. Joseph, Amazon
7 July 2012
  • Summary: Sound quality is good. Easy to install/hook up, but not so easy to learn how to use -especially the iPod User Interface. Can't seem to get it to shuffle randomly through a playlist. It wants to play the same songs over and over again. The biggest dissappointment is that to use the unit's sub woofer controls, you have to forego the rear channel (use the low level Rear/Sub out only for the sub, and use the Front out, hooked up with a Y connector, to drive the Front/Rear...

Good product

Piscus, Amazon
12 June 2012
  • Summary: This is a good device. You can connect your Iphone, Ipod or USB drive. You can play by album, song or folder. It can also play random songs and it has something called ZAP or ZAPPING that jumps from one song to another playing a few seconds of the song. The faceplate is a REAL pain to insert. I have been using this product for a few months and it always takes me a few minute to insert it right.

Great for the avid iPod user... when it works!

J. J. Brockey, Amazon
21 July 2011
  • Summary: I bought this deck a few weeks ago and had it installed by Best Buy. I love the sound quality and the ease of use for my iPod nano. I have not had a chance to set up the bluetooth and test it as I have a Jawbone that I typically use. I got this more for a back up Bluetooth in case something happens to my ear piece or the battery goes dead. I will update that part of the review when I have a chance to mess with it.

"not iphone friendly"

dsk92, CNET
25 March 2010
  • Pros: Hidden wires, clean look, charges while plugged in. Ease of controls
  • Cons: no bluetooth for iphone which means you cannot answer the phone while driving since it will be buried in the head unit.
