Summary: ..only allows you to pair one phone at a time (which is annoying if you share a car with your wife) and the unit feels (and looks) considerably cheaper than the previous budget Sony model I replaced it with (which was ~5 years old). It also has a narrower screen than my previous unit, which is annoying when the screen's primary purpose now (for me anyway) is to display song names as text (cue lots of scrolling).
Summary: The microphone on this product to enable you to make hands free calls is of no use at all and with no facility to add an external mic it only serves as a good radio. The Bluetooth function to link to phone and listen to music works well.
Sony DSXA50BT Car Radio with MP3 Player / Bluetooth
Peadar O'Kovsky, Amazon
7 March 2014
Summary: I do like this item. I like it's versatility, USB, Bluetooth audio, bluetooth hands free for your phone, and of course radio. Some may miss the CD player function, but most people now have digital media. If I had any negative points, it would be that the physical size is quite small (no optical drive), and as a consequence you need a longer aerial lead to connect to the back of the unit. The radio tuner is excellent, with very good sensitivity and lovely sound quality.
Summary: I got this at its lowest price and even that wasn't enough to up the stars. Bluetooth failed in the area's of calls which was one of the main reasons for purchasing it. It was returned and Amazon issued a refund without any problems. I guess its the same old story "You get what you pay for"...
Will not work with or charge your iPhone through the USB slot
14 September 2013
Summary: Fine stereo for the price but worth spending extra for iPhone usb connectivity if you have one. I can notice the difference in sound quality from bluetooth to USB as my wife has a sony unit that she can use USB with her iPhone, USB being much fuller.
Summary: my built in (tape!) car stereo packed so needed a new one. CDs a bit old now, so decided I didn't need a CD drive. With an adaptor kit this stereo went straight in. The usb mp3 thing is great! be good if it would do playlists from windows media - it does folders instead so you can skip up and down albums easilly. Radio is good.
Summary: The amount of features this unit has make it very good value for money (I bought this when it was £65), the usb menu is easier to navigate the Pioneer unit I have fitted to my other car. It also gives a good sound for this price range. The half depth of the unit compared to traditional units is very useful if room in the dash is tight and made fitment very easy as I didn't have to worry about crushing wires behind the unit.
Summary: This head unit turned out to be even better than I'd expected. The clarity when using Bluetooth is so much better than the Parrot I was using before, even the built in microphone seems to perform really well. Overall an outstanding piece of kit!
