Summary: It just took longer for me to have that problem because I don't use the convertible much. FM is so statisticy that I can't understand a word anymore. AM and CD still work fine. How can any company mess up the FM reception with all the "experience" they have, I don't know! Might plug in an external voice recorder that has radio or my Nokia phone to get the FM now until I get something else. Got talked into getting a Sony by Circuit City (before they went belly up).
Summary: great radio, no lie. Especially for the price, it cant be beat. the line in is great and pretty much the reason i got it. but has great sound and still sounds good turned way up. the display is nice and readable. and all the buttons are good sized, some radios have too small buttons but this ones good.
Summary: I purchased this radio 3 yrs ago. It was a great stereo for the first 2 years but in the last year it has developed a problem. Apparently there's as short in the radio which causes the back speakers to cut in and out. It's very annoying. True to form, sony has made another piece of crap!
Summary: Installed the Sony CDX GT-310 in my daughter's car and it worked for about 1 year. Now it displays a "FM1 Failure" and the tuner only supplies static. The CD player still works fine and to give Sony some credit the unit does sound pretty good. I contacted Sony via website "chat" and after wasting about 30 minutes troubleshooting the unit with the "analyst", she told me the unit required repair. She sent me to the repair website and I discovered the $79 exchange program.
Summary: Installed this unit, which was manufactured 12/06, in my Wife's car in June 08. Died Sept 09 just after the 1 year warranty ran out. It won't make a sound...won't accept a CD...but all the lights are on. I checked all the connections and they look fine. Apparently this isn't unusual for this unit, from other reports I ready. Beware. Sony offers only one warranty repair, a $79 exchange for a refurd, which includes shipping.
Summary: Contrary to the "Technical Details" description, this radio CAN NOT use Sony's iPod adapter Sony XA 110IP - Car headunit adapter . The radio itself is fine but I purchased the iPod adapter at the same time based on the technical details description only to find out it will not work. The company I pruchased the adapter from did take it back but I lost the cost of shipping both ways!
Summary: The radio is perfect! It has improved the audio quality of my Mercedes and I'm now able to really bump my tunes in total enjoyment! Sony is a superior manufacturer and they have proven their high quality again with this unit.
