Satisfied Buyer

W. G. Alger "fotonut", Amazon
16 January 2012
  • Summary: I needed a new faceplate for my work van due to a loose aux input which prevented using my ipod. I had been searching for a replacement for awhile but no results. It is a 5 year old model by Sony. Amazon sent me an email with the Sony GTX200 that was available for a great price, so I jumped on it. I was surprised to get the entire kit for the model! I only needed the faceplate. The unit works great and I am enjoying my ipod once again.

Replacement radio

w_reading, Ebay
3 November 2010
  • Summary: Installed this radio in my 96 ranger. Tuner is superior to the stock radio tuner. Because it plays WMA format files, you can put a huge amount of music on one disk (11 hours) and still have great sound. Unit has plenty of power for the stock speakers. Only downside is the small display. This unit is a few years old buy plays fine. I expect it to give good service for years to come.

Sony, better than Pioneer??

privategod, Ebay
7 December 2009
  • Summary: I have had Sony stereo's before, and I like them, but I love Pioneer. I used this Sony until I could replace my Pioneer, but after using the GT200, then installing another Pioneer DEH-P4800MP, I think I will put the Sony CDX-GT200 back in, it just sounds better to me. Not having the manual or remote made getting everything set a pain, but once I figure it out, it sounds and works great.

Excellent Value

Desk ridden "Frank", Amazon
1 October 2006
  • Summary: I am fairly discerning music listener though by no means am I a car audiophile. I also tend to avoid Sony products as I find that the company is unable to offer any degree of consistent quality. I purchased the GT200 for my 26 year old Volvo and connected it to some basic, but new, Panasonic speakers (two - 4" and two - 6"). I am thoroughly impressed with the Sony GT200. It is fairly simple to install and to operate and truly a pleasure to listen to.

Very Disappointed...

Reviewer, Amazon
3 March 2006
  • Summary: For some reason, this was the only CD player that my insurance company would cover after the CD player (which was a Pioneer) was stolen from my car. To be honest, the performance is awful. The songs sound muddy. There are separation problems, not only within frequency group, but between them. All preset EQs make the speakers sound like they're in a box, and using the manual setting doesn't fair much better.

Looks great feels better

AJC "Andrew", Amazon
28 January 2006
  • Summary: I have wanted a nice stereo for a while, I did some shopping around and comparing. I found that for the money, Sony Xplod setups are nice and sweet. I have this stereo in my car, followed by a Xplod 500w 4/3 amp, and I push two 12" bazooka subs hard. The sound quality is awsome, $4$ this stereo can compare to Pioneer or Pyramid when it comes to sound quality.
