Summary: At first, my iPhone 5 would only play music, Pandora radio, and link to my phone for calls. Apps and video did not work, even with the lightning adapter. But I thought no big deal, Pioneer said that it was coming out with an adapter cable soon (and they did, it was $60). So I bought it but it still wouldn't display apps. I called Pioneer and they said to make sure I had all software updates installed and to call back.
Summary: This should clearly have been beta tested a while longer before going out to the mass public. The interface is good, but the damnable warnings that sometimes don't let you click OK are sometimes annoying. And it restricts your ability to use all your apps. You can only use the ones it allows, unless you purchase software to bypass the AppRadio App, which is also a pain. The three reasons for my purchasing this device was 1. to run Audible. 2. to run Google Navigation. 3.
Summary: I was skeptical at first when I first got my App Radio 2. However, after owning it for almost a year now I can't imagine my car without it. The versatility with this stereo is amazing. I've been able to hook my Xbox 360 to it, along with a raspberry pi and even a laptop and my android tablet. Granted I cannot control a majority of the features with the touch screen and the lack of a dvd player is a negative.
Summary: I absolutely love the App Radio, it has everything I need: Radio, MP3 player, Movie player... The only issue I have is the UI... It needs to be upgraded, redesigned or something... The downloadable apps (by pioneer) are a bit iffy, hopefully next upgrade will address all issues... AppRadio 2 interfaces quite well with the iPhone 5, iPad, iPod Touch 5th Gen and iPod Classic...
Summary: The firmware is the only issue I have with this product. I hate the startup splash screen that you have to click through, which isn't necessary since they have another one when using the phone's apps. Plus, the UI for the stock radio is very poorly laid out. The 'seek' function (I'd say the most used radio feature) requires you to long press on the 'tune' buttons (a task much more difficult on a touch screen while driving) which are way undersized making the exact...
Summary: The only reason this HU is worth anything is because of ARLiberator. Without that app, this is a huge disappointment. I would give this thing a 1 star. I give the ARLiberator app a 5 star. Combined, this HU get's a 3 star just because pioneer should have build this thing to do what ARLiberator does from the start.
Summary: This has to be one of my favorite head units. Amazing head unit, the one problem I have with it is that some apps are unresponsive and take a while to load. I use this with DashCommand and its hit or miss. I love how it looks in the dash, BE ADVISED this DOES NOT work with iphone 5 UNLESS you get the hdmi adapter with lightning connectivity. You DONT need to buy the pioneer one for it to work. You also need to update the firmware for it to work with iphone 5.
