A little disappointed

Dean272, Halfords
25 October 2014
  • Excerpt: Although it's good sound quality it does let itself down In a few areas, it doesn't have a built in mic its a separate lead , nearly every time I adjust the volume I go in to settings, the screen even at full brightness is not as clear as other head units I have owned and being near full screan I expected much better, also it looks and feels very cheap I would look at other stereos to be honest Can't fault Halfords tho the staff are very helpful

Great sound display issues.

  • Summary: I am a big fan of pioneer car stereos and why this unit has all of the great feature that of my previous units had the display could use some work. It is very hard to read in the day time. I sometimes have to use my hand to cover the glare. Everything else is fine, the blue tooth, USB rear, pandora, all are great I just have a problem with the display.

Good deck but with issues

Tony-S, Crutchfield
6 April 2014
  • Summary: I've had this deck in my Nissan quad-cab truck for a few months. It is feature-rich and works great with my iPhone over Bluetooth. However, there are several annoying aspects about this unit. First, there is no rubber ring around the volume knob - just slick plastic. You cannot increase the volume with just one finger without applying enough pressure that you end up pressing the button and activating the menu system, thus disabling the volume.
  • Pros: Works great with iPhone over Bluetooth. Lots of features. Easy to install.
  • Cons: Ergonomic problem with sound/menu button, audio quality is just ok, need to fix iPod auto sensing

Sweet Deck but..........

Ed R, Crutchfield
4 April 2014
  • Summary: i really like this deck i purchased this to replace an older dmr that didn't have Bluetooth functions installation was simple and it had no problems pairing up with my galaxy s4 The only beef i had doesent have to due with the deck but with the way it was shipped to me( more on that in a sec) but for the money its a pretty solid deck
  • Pros: rear usb inputs bluetooth audo streaming simple installation
  • Cons: The only beef i have is not withthe deck itself but with Crutchfield I did receive the deck on time in about two days however the box mangled when i opened the box none of the items were packaged incorrectly they should of been bubble wrapped at the very least they just put the items in the box and then covered them in foam peanuts. Working in the shipping industry i have sen that alot and its lucky that it arrived un damaged

Good Product Poor Installation Instructions

JackD., Crutchfield
20 March 2014
  • Summary: For some reason the Star ratings are not working with my version of Firefox. I like the radio and the bluetooth connection is flawless. I may need to relocate the microphone because the sound is muted. The installation into my 2002 BMW 330i could have gone more smoothly. The problem is the Scosche amplifier is too small to fit into the space vacated by the factory radio.
  • Pros: Looks good when installed, there are many functions and they all work well.
  • Cons: Requires the Scosche amplifier which is too large to fit into the factory radio enclosure with the radio. This is not that much of a problem as long as the installation instructions and connection harnesses address the issue.

Loved it, when it works

  • Summary: This head unit works really well and the Pandora controls work well. The phone features are a little confusing but not that bad. However, when I got my first unit it would not work at all. Crutchfield returned it without question and sent me another unit. This second unit worked find for 6 months but now the only speaker that works is the sub and there is no sound out of the other speakers.

Whoa is that display ever bright

Joe O, Crutchfield
7 March 2014
  • Summary: Pretty good DMP for the money. Who wants to fumble with CD's now that you can stream audio from a phone or load up all your tunes on a USB stick? This unit integrates very well with both iPhone and Android, Pandora and PowerAmp are easily controlled from the front panel. Unfortunately I will probably be swapping this for something else as it has one fatal flaw: I cannot dim the "Downtown Tokyo" display enough to allow me to drive safely at night.
  • Pros: Compact, Easy to install. Sounds great. Integrates very well with Android via Bluetooth.
  • Cons: Display cannot be dimmed enough for night driving. Volume knob is too easily "pushed" into configuration mode when attempting to change volume. Does not play FLAC files.

it gets the job done, but nothing special IMHO

  • Summary: I used to have a JVC Bluetooth Stereo in my car which I purchased for under $100 and I liked it very much. When my car was totaled in an accident I purchased this as a replacement for about $12 more than my JVC unit so this review might have a lot of comparisons since they are similar units at similar price points. You would think a Unit that costs the same but is 2 years newer would be more advanced or sophisticated but sadly that was not the case.
