Conclusion: This unit is simply amazing, it has TONS of features, detacheable face, 4V pre outs, 8 band equalizer, hi def screen (which is really nice compared to all of the other units on the market), great bluetooth (highway speeds can cause me to sometimes repeat myself a few times but happened on my OEM bluetooth as well). This unit is FAST, it takes like 3 seconds for it to boot up and start playing music...
Summary: According to my installer the radio was simple to install from the instructions and the sound is amazing without an amplifier. It was packaged well and was easy to set all the settings. The screen is nice and large and is sensitive to touch like my previous Pioneer head unit. The blue tooth works perfectly and the mic doesn't sound like I am under water when I am driving with the windows down. That said, I am having some trouble with the AppRadio feature.
Summary: Just installed it and it is a great unit. Screen is very cool and the mixtrax feature is awesome. the detachable face is a very good plus. The touch screen is great and the interface is fast. I am now looking forward to getting an IPhone to use with this deck. The deck still does work with my Android phone. I do recommend getting a parking brake bypass. I just installed this one with my unit and it works great.
Summary: I purchased the Pioneer AVH-8400BH to replace my factor Stereo in my 2006 Toyota Tundra double Cab. I also purchased a backup camera and the toyota ware harness adapter. The stereo works great and sounds great, as long as i don't try and use the backup camera. When i turn the back up camera on through the stereo i get a black screen with the message (CAUTION image may appear reverese) i acknowledge the message and it goes away but comes back on in 30 sec.
Summary: After waiting for the ACH-8400 to finally release for about 4 months, I picked mine up from an amazon seller for 150 bucks less than other retailers were selling them for. Received the head unit about a week ago, installed it, and used it without a parking brake bypass for about 4 days.
Summary: I spent an hour evaluating this unit yesterday, and I was close to replacing my despised Sony with it, even before I discovered that the face is also removable. The unit is fast, and the display is excellent. But what I really loved was how well it uses its excellent big screen to navigate a fat (160GB) iPod. You can drill down to (say) an album from a certain artist in seconds, and once there, IT REMEMBERS WHERE YOU ARE.
Summary: Like the other reviewer, I'm awaiting the correct parking brake bypass to really give this unit a fair shot. My experience with it this weekend definitely left a lot to be desired in regard to bugginess with the Advanced App Mode feature, but I currently don't know how much of that will be solved once the correct bypass is installed. In the meantime, the primary reason I bought this unit--for its dual-zone capability--has left me in a quandry.
Summary: This review is for the new AVH-8400BH. It just came out in march. You also will want the CDIU201S Advanced App Mode USB Interface Cable. Also note: you need a new special parking break bypass, the old ones will not work, and i did not know that so i'm waiting for the one that will work with this.
