The worst ever

Big D Sweetz "DJ", Amazon
1 January 2014
  • Summary: I bought this refurbished which was my first mistake. I should have listened to all the other reviews about how crappy a product this was. After having this in my car for 3 months the LED screen died. I could not get this to come back on for anything. One day it magically came back to life all by itself. After that it would start shutting off and resetting all on it's own.

Stay Away

Anonymous, Crutchfield
8 July 2013
  • Summary: I bought this radio to update my current factory radio on 2007 Jeep GCSRT8. Radio looks great but its a big disappointment, I have already returned it back to Crutchfield. It freezes randomly, requires hard reset, application market is empty, you have only few applications to download.

Stay Away

mellemel, Crutchfield
11 May 2013
  • Summary: Had this unit for a little over 30days brought from Crutchfield and what a huge disappointment. This unit has been a nightmare from the time I had it installed. First, Parrot has one of the worst tech support in the world. They hang up on you and do not provide much help. It is like you are bothering them. Second, The Unika steering wheel control did not work. Third, frequently the unit had no sound even though nothings on mute and hours later the sound would come back.
  • Pros: Wifi,
  • Cons: microphone sound is bad, no volume button, not Pandora friendly you have to pay for Spotify

Disappointed

Paul, Crutchfield
8 May 2013
  • Summary: I wish I had more than 1500 characters to really review this head unit. In essence, I would not recommend this to anybody who wasn't going to root it and do their own thing. ALL of the software that comes with the PAS has serious flaws. Some examples: Navigation lacks zoom in/out functionality, music playback software won't play through a set of folders (it just stops at the last song and sits there), music playback software won't turn itself back on if you leave the car...
  • Pros: Crutchfield support, pretty appearance when installed, delivers adequate output power to speakers
  • Cons: Software, accessories, functionality, tuner, tuner, tuner, support forum is pretty vacant

It doesn't work

Paulo, Amazon
5 May 2013
  • Summary: It crushes all the time. It worked a couple of months and now not even turn on. Is the worst product I purchased. I live outside the USA and I can not use the warranty. I am really disappointed.

Maybe I'm just a perfectionist

Will, Crutchfield
27 April 2013
  • Summary: I love the idea of a car stereo running Android. I wanted to load my favorite apps on it, run whatever navigation software that I wanted, and stream music. At the same time, I love car audio. I love the idea of a car stereo fully integrated in a vehicle. No visible wires, just full function and clean sound. The Parrot ASTEROID Smart falls short in nearly every respect, and here's why: The screen is a reflective, capacitive touchscreen.
  • Pros: Concept is awesome. Good looking unit. Plenty of connectors. Shallow depth, making for easy installs. 23wrms=nice power. 6v pre-outs=great for running amps.
  • Cons: Screen size compromised. Questionable quality control. Fingerprints. Useless SD card slot (can't upgrade included card). Half-baked Asteroid Market apps. UNIKA steering wheel control adapter is the only way to integrate steering wheel controls and it is compatible with a small fraction of cars. No physical volume buttons. No support for Google Apps or Framework. ALSO--when powered on, it does not auto-resume last audio source (more annoying than it sounds).

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

Ford I., Amazon
18 April 2013
  • Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I will be asking for my money back. I just spent 3 hours trying to get this thing to work. The dial knob barely works, so trying to navigate the menus is tedious and aggravating. It doesn't save your audio settings so you have to adjust the balance, fade, EQ, and volume each and every time you start it. This coupled with the fact the knob barely works makes the simple act of listening to music in your car a complete headache.

Very unhappy with the unit and the support from Parrot

Alan Ogilvie, Amazon
9 January 2013
  • Summary: I have returned the unit. This is why. Firstly the unit was great. Everything worked as designed except for the apps but I will explain that later. The quality of the sound was excellent, all sources worked very well. Sound quality and bass was excellent. Hands free worked very well and is clear. The 1 day in my issues started. The Bluetooth hung up when I was playing Pandora. I reset hoping this was a once off. Unfortunately this started happening at least once a day.

Very expensive paperweight

Stewart, Amazon
14 October 2012
  • Summary: I had high hopes for this product but at this point even if it was free I would pass. When the asteroid works its great. Voice control works well even in a very noisy open top roadster. Sound quality is also quite good. The bluetooth works well with my galaxy s3. Streaming music and bluetooth dun (internet)has worked flawless. I have not been able to get the usb internet to work.

Abandoned and buggy

goyney, Amazon
24 September 2012
  • Summary: The Parrot Asteroid sounds good in theory, but in reality it is complete garbage. Firstly, Parrot has discontinued support and updates for the Asteroid. Secondly, The current version, 1.6.1, is horrendously buggy. The boot process is AWFUL. It takes upwards of thirty seconds to completely cold boot up. Ten, maybe fifteen, seconds would be reasonable. Thirty is unacceptable.
