Excellent Sound if you use CD's but poor with the aux input - Beware of WoofersEtc
18 April 2012
Summary: I've had the unit in for about a week now. BIG audio improvement over the Kenwood x995 I just pulled out - The Kenwood sounded over processed and fatiguing...hurts the ears after twenty minutes of listening. The Nakamichi may not have all the bells and whistles of Pandora, Bluetooth, etc., but it does one thing better than anything I've heard in its price range when playing cd's: produce smooth, clean, high quality sound In addition, it's simple to use.
Summary: There are very few aftermarket car stereos available now that don't look like they were designed by a 14-year old, so if you want something that fits tastefully into a nice older european car, there are almost no options. The CD400 fits the bill. Sounds very nice, and has a nice, straightforward operation. The display and button illumination color can be switched between orange and green.
Summary: Been a Nak owner since the mid 1980's when I had a Nak TD700 in my car. Paired with a/d/s/ 320i and 300i powered with 2 Nak PA300II amps. Sold the a/d/s 300i and 1 amp to a good friend since my car was totalled in an accident and picked up a Toyota pickup. The TD700 died and replaced with a Nak CD45z which the laser just crashed after 10 years. Replaced the unit with a Sony CDXGT930UI and couldn't make the sound even come close to a Nak.
Summary: IF YOU ARE INTO MUSIC FROM CDS AND THE SOUND QUALITY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO YOU THIS IS THE UNIT TO GET..NO ELECTRONIC MUSIC PROCESSOR OR ARTIFICIAL CRAP JUST PURE AUDIOPHILE QUALITY SOUND.. THE WAY MUSIC SHOULD SOUND....HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ESPECIALLY NEW GENERATION.
Summary: I used to own a Nakamichi CD-45z years ago and thought I might try out the newer CD-400. I am very pleased with this CD player as it has many functions and adjustments that my old 45z did not. It also plays CD-R discs perfectly. Sound quality is outstanding paired up with my Diamond audio components. I would recommend this head unit to anyone looking for above average sound quality. Not a bad price either!
Summary: Always been known for the best sound quality, this unit is amazing. I've owned several of the same unit. Don't let all those other manufacturers fool you when they say their HU is 4*50w.... This unit is 4*47 w @ 4ohms...meaning is TRULY 47w, per channel. No amp is needed for any speakers w/this unit (unless a sub is involved) Simple and effective...no BS, no junk buttons. Love it!
Summary: Very briefly, The player sounds great when it works, however is skips at even the slightest bump in the road. I'm not talking about off road here, I'm talking about any big expansion joint or the slightest pothole. I'm about to start exchange request proceedings with this Amazon Merchant. I hope to get a unit that works, so I can enjoy the audio quality! Stay tuned.......
Summary: I've had this unit for a couple of years now and still enjoying it. It has never skipped on any cd yet. Although a couple of discs did get stuck in there. I came to write this review because I am looking at the 8 1/2 soundscape thing. Man somebody has to drop the price on that mess. But I would happily recommend Nakamichi to my friends.
