Summary: I bought this stereo for my husband based on the good reviews here and the specs. I have to say that both my husband and I HATE this radio. It has the most clumsy interface I've ever seen. Intuitive? The designers never heard of the word. Both my husband and I are very electronics literate.
Summary: Have for 2 years now. Very great control options over sound. filters, location of the person who listen to the music, type of car, type and size of speakers, location of speakers, distance between speakers, more than 3 band equalizer.. but the spectrum analyzer is sooo tinny that you can hardly see any change on the amplitude of any frequency. A subsonic filter is missing. A "search by text" machine is missing too. The sound is distorted over volume 25.
still rockin this stereo 2 years later. but 1 issue :)

Summary: So the stereo works fine.. performs well..has great output..and all that. I have a 4 channel and a 2 channel set of amps hooked up. 2 tweeters + crossovers and 2 6x9's.. a 10" sub..and 2 more 6x9's. Absolutely love the sound and the features of this deck. However, My one big complaint that drives me bonkers..is that every time i plug in my iphone/ipod it automatically switches to the music and starts playing music.. I really really wish it didn't do that.
Summary: have had this for one year now ... agree with others about the complexity of the menus/interface, but once you learn this, its an incredible unit! ... had to go back to my installer a few times to get some ignition noise probs fixed (with shielded RCA cables --- in trunk MB Quart 4 channel amp) ...
Summary: Just had the unit professionally installed. -For the Pros- Love all the features: The ability to shape sound -Sound Shaping -Seat position sound -EQ -Individual speaker volume, EQ, type (Tweeter, Sub), Distance, etc. Aesthetics: -Love the color adjustment: variable or can have display and buttons different colors -I have buttons as amber to match my dash, and green to match the gauges -Nice glossy look, clean with only two knobs -The display is great, with 4/5 lines of...

Summary: For the pricepoint you will not find another head unit with as many options, toggles, tweaks or feature set. I debated for a long while with either Alpine, Clarion or Pioneer. I wasn't disappointed with the KDC-X993. The good: X'Over feature is amazing for optimizing speaker and amp frequency response. Built-in EQ offers good fine tuning for the last touches.
Summary: I realy like this unit. To me it was easier to crash and burn through the features and use the book for reference at first. Once you understand how it works it is easy to use. Blue tooth is awesome and works great with my blackberry curve. I love the way the unit interfaces with the audio of the blackberry. I have yet to hook up the HD tuner. My only comment is that I cannot set up the date on the unit. I have not called the tech line to see if it is a malfuntion.
Summary: kenwood does it again great features great sound and its SHINY!! buy this deck you will be the envy of the parking lot. you can change the color of everything independantly in a number of combonations the usb flash drive player reads quick and sounds better than cds. ........................................................................................................
Summary: I bought this deck first part of 2010, as a late present to myself. I read LOTS of reviews saying this was an exceptional deck...well, I completely disagree. I have had many aftermarket decks in my vehicles, never anything very fancy, this was my first upgrade to a mid level choice. I am in the process of trying to return this deck as within two weeks the lights started flashing on and off on the faceplate anytime I used a control on the deck, like completely blank, not...
