Summary: Replaced my old Alpine CDA-9831 with this unit... I wanted something that I could control my iPhone from and take calls with and this thing is just the ticket. It has a lot of features I'll never use but the most important one, the sound, is top notch! I bought this over the other decks in the Alpine because of the huge 3-line display, might not be important to everyone but user experience is important to me and it was worth the additional cost!
Summary: It has worked exceptionally well for me besides one small complaint.. actually two. First I was unable to get the phone app to connect with the stereo to adjust settings. Second, its easy to accidentally push the knob button when trying to just turn the volume up or down resulting you to go into search mode and have to back track to get to volume control. Minor annoyance, but other than that solid unit, and sounds great with an alpine v9 5 chan.
Summary: The HD is considerably better sound quality. It's nice having a CD player however I got used to not using it from my old stereo... Having an iPod or smart phone with Pandora and Sirius radio what kind of music do I actually need cd's for? I have not had much of. Chance to try out the Blue tooth hands free yet at freeway speeds but at a stop light it works great. At freeway speeds will be the test if it is better than my older parrot Bluetooth setup.
Summary: The Alpine "Tune It" App doesn't work, so don't buy it if you expect to be able to use your iphone to actually tune the 9 band "parametric" eq. The bands are only selectable not truely variable. The display stays blue even when you change the colors of the buttons. The Pandora app portion doesn't work with iphone unless you're plugged into the USB.
Summary: First of all this is a very high quality car stereo as long as you take your time learning how to use it. The Tuneit app does offer some help in setting the audio up. Many of the settings will be difficult to understand to a novice. Take your time when adjusting the audio settings and you'll love this car stereo. Bluetooth is excellent! Great for hands free calling and playing music from my S4. Also HD Radio is awesome.
Summary: It was purchased at a great price & ideally just what I needed. It's been the best investment so far! I would definitely say I would recommend this product to a friend! Love that you can hook It up by Bluetooth, and use it that way!
Pros: Easy to set up, technologically advanced, good sound, great price!
Cons: Hard to set the stations, but the manual explains the step by step process!
Summary: Ive always had alpine for some strange reason I upgraded to the kenwood kiv 9001(350$). Wasnt happy with sound quality, ended up passing it down to my gf and shopping for a stereo siz months later.I read reviews on crunchfield and was set on this one and a pioneer($380) Pros: sound, pandora, bluetooth, Cons for me: volume knob sticks out to much, connecting pandora threw wifi is a pain at times, I dont really care for the change of back lights, could use more settings...
