Okay ran it at 2ohm stereo, and wired with 4gauge wire, the amp sucks the life out of my battery and my alt can keep up... what size cap should i use? also the speakers are 500watt RMS subs and the voice coils start smoking when i run the sound where i like it.. the amp stays cool so i need advice on a good set of DVC subs! thanks for the help

You can check the Polk Audio SR104-DVC at http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/subs/10inch/sr104dvc/

Hi, Sorry no one has answered this before now. I would run it 4ohms mono, bridged by placing the #1 voice coil on each woofer (call it #1, top vc, left hand vc, whatever you want to...) in series with the other woofer's #1 vc,(8ohms) and the #2 voice coil on each also in series,(8ohms) then parallel both 8ohm sets back down to 4ohms. That way you make the two woofers into one because neither can see power unless the other woofer sees exactly the same power, so they will operate as one, in phase (pay attention to the voice coil phase!! red to black then one red and one black from each series vc set to the amp) and uniformly. I've tried it both ways because a couple guys in a forum were arguing that it didn't make a difference and I could hear and feel the difference. Don't fry your amp by clipping or frying it into transistor failure, more

If your amp is sucking your car dry you need another battery,(preferably a Stinger!) and bigger gauge wire upgrades directly from the alternator. They call that wiring upgrade the 'BIG THREE'. You need CURRENT to your amp or your voltage drops and the amp's power supply has to work extra hard and extra hot, and that kills more amps by a factor of 10 then does fried final output transistors, all because not enough current is getting to the amp from too small wiring or a wimpy battery / alternator combo. Caps only help about 5%, get a 2nd HIGH QUALITY battery, I like Stinger & Kinetik for daily ground pounding the best, and place it near the amp with 1gauge welding cable (or expensive car audio equivalent 1ga) running to your amp and front battery after you mod the BIG THREE. Also, Locate a pair of high efficiency 88dB @ 1watt more
