not good enough

DonRobert, Staples
6 May 2014
  • Excerpt: although I could find this item at a cheaper price in the internet, I decided to buy it on the local store. I had to return it because althought the legs are covered with rubber, it doesn't provide a firm grip on a vertical smooth tube/pipe. It just slides down. I almost broke my camera thinking that it this item would hold it but not so. Great service at Staples, no hassle on return.

Great idea

Sensei, Staples
17 January 2014
  • Excerpt: Real easy to use. Excellent for placing on an uneven surface for steadiness or timed shots. Only drawback was the "Free software" web site would never open at Vivitar. Since I have dozens of photo editing software this did not matter.
  • Pros: Good Stability, Lightweight, Unfolds Quickly

Helpful product for shaky hands!

  • Excerpt: Helps when taking photos of smaller items but be careful when positioning it so it doesn't tip over...if legs are not even, it can be a bit unstable. Still better than shaky hands.
  • Pros: Folds Small, Lightweight, Unfolds Quickly
  • Cons: Unstable

Only appropriate for point and shoots

Historyhelpman, Staples
31 August 2013
  • Excerpt: I bought this tripod as a hoped for less expensive Gorillapod alternative. I looked carefully at the packaging before buying but there is no information on the load bearing capacity of the tripod. On opening it and hooking it up it was quickly obvious that this tripod might support a small point and shoot but it collapsed under the weight of my Rebel T1i body, forget about adding a lens.
  • Cons: Unstable, Weak Construction

Should be part of everyone's camera bag

Yevgeniya, Staples
23 August 2013
  • Excerpt: I love the Little Spider. I mostly use it as a gripper and virtually never use it as a standup unit. It hooks just about anywhere and we find it most useful when doing pics of ourselves in various locales where good balance is problematic.
  • Pros: Good Stability, Very Versatile
  • Cons: None

Spider Tripod

winedog, Staples
2 May 2013
  • Excerpt: I LOVE my spider tripod by Vivitar. I need to videotape my dog and me as we enjoy the sport of Nose Work. I train alone except for attending classes so have no one except my new Vivitar spider tripod to assist me with videotaping. I'm using two Flip video cameras and this tripod works like a charm.
