Broke in a few shoots

Skyline, B&H Photo
5 July 2011
  • Excerpt: At first this Monopod seemed to be sturdy even with larger lenses. After a couple shoots one of the clamps completely broke. I am needing to send it back to the factory now for replacement. It is inexpensive, you get what you pay for. Pay the extra money and get a better quality system.
  • Pros: Compact, Lightweight, Opens Quickly
  • Cons: Unstable, Unstable Joints, Weak Clamps

supported dslr and canon 100-400.

safari shooter, B&H Photo
2 March 2011
  • Excerpt: I needed to support an slr with a 100-400 lens on a safari. The open vehicles in south africa have no space to rest a beanbag on, and there is no room for a tripod. For most shots I only partially extended the monopod, and placed it on the seat while I shot.

Velbon UP-4000 review by mxwphoto

2 January 2007
  • Summary: I bought the Canon label version of this monopod, complete with a tiny ball head. The pod is probably as light as it gets at this price range. The quick flip clasps are entirely plastic, but they are tight enough to make sure the sections don't accidentally slip back inside.
  • Pros: Light and inexpensive
  • Cons: Not for heavy setups?
