great value fluid head

wpp, Adorama
12 September 2012
 • Excerpt: It is excellent for the price. I used it on a monopod to shoot video. tilt and pan are fluid and smooth but panning is alittle tough partly because single footing of a monopod. This is the first one I've owned; never tried competitors but this works for me.
 • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion
 • Cons: Heavy

Awesome head for the price

 • Excerpt: I purchased this to attach to a camera slider called the Cinemover. It works great to get smooth sliding shots of whatever I'm filming. It secures to the camera well and it pans and tilts very smoothly. I don't use it that often, so I don't know how well it will hold up in the long run, but I imagine for what I'm using it for, it will be great.
 • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Smooth Operation

Good features on the cheap

 • Excerpt: I put this on my Ravelli tripod. The top of the tripod has movement I don't want. I flipped the center pole over and now thhis head mounts without unwanted movement. The head moves smoothly and the attachment is secure and easy, you just push down and the lever secures it. I have not filmed with it yet but will try to post when that happens.
 • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion, Strong Clamp

Great head for the price

 • Excerpt: I purchased this for use on my slider for my video camera. I used it with a Canon 60D and it worked great. I plan on using it with my Sony NX5U soon, and I don't anticipate any problems.

My only complaint, and it's a small one, is that the panning and tilting movement is quite stiff, even with the locking screws loosened all the way. But I would imagine that they will loosen up the more I use it.
 • Pros: Attaches Firmly
 • Cons: Stiff movement

Smooth for smaller cams

dvaperture, B&H Photo
5 January 2009
 • Summary: I use this for my HV30. I'll probably use this with the Canon 5d mark II, when I get that. I use it with the Bogen / Manfrotto 604666 190XB Tripod Legs. Great combo! Very smooth and a great alternative to more expensive heads. No sticky spots or gritty pans. I would highly recommend this to anyone shooting with smaller cams. Only complaint is that the handle isn't too comfortable (but not a big deal for the price).
 • Pros: Durable, Inexpensive
 • Cons: Plastic handle

Great Workhorse Tripod Head

Paul M., Adorama
7 August 2008
 • Excerpt: We have had a pair of Velbon tripods with this head for many, many years (10+), and have just now had to replace the heads. We have used them for video cameras of many sizes and shapes, and the heads have always performed very well, with very smooth pans and tilts. The old heads performed so well that I wanted to get something as close as possible to replace them.
 • Pros: Durable built well, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion, Smooth pans tilts
 • Cons: Heavy

Excellent

 • Summary: [...]combine this head with the Sunpak 7500 Pro tripod, which has good legs but a not so great head, and you can take it off easily and replace it with the Velbon. The PH-368, especially for its price, is a perfect buy. Once adjusted properly, it allows for smooth movement even at full zoom. Unlike the heads I tried previously it doesn't stick to a position and then snap when you try to tilt up or down, causing a sudden jump in the video.
 • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion, Strong Clamp

It's a good and fluid tripodhead, but has noticably cheaper plastic parts

Wisse Stolk, Amazon
 • Summary: This is a tripod head with a very high valuea for it's money. Please do realise it is rather cheap, so you will get plastic parts. They are in a lower handling quality than equal metal parts. The fluid functioning however is realised with metal parts, so the plastic parts only influence the personal settings, not the actual fluid motion.

Stabiler Universalstativkopf

Klaus Doil, Amazon
22 March 2014
