The Vanguard Alta Pro 263 AT.......A great product!!
15 August 2012
Summary: I purchased this tripod about a month ago and have taken it on several photowalks through some major cities (Atlanta, New York, San Francisco). This tripod lends itself well to this kind of use. It is extremely sturdy....even with my 5DM2 on it. Setup is very quick thanks to the well designed quick locks on the legs. Also, the head is very easy to use. You get the benefit of a ball head with the ability to rotate on a single plane for multi-shot panoramas.
Pros: Extremely sturdy, versatile, and easy to set up in a hurry.
Cons: Can be a wee bit on the heavy side if carrying for long lengths of time.
Pros: Bought this tripod in Oct 2010 and paired it with Vanguard's SBH-250 ballhead. Have been very happy with both. Have recommended it to friends interested in both still photo and video recording. Very fast shipping from newegg as usual.
Summary: I chose this over the Manfrotto 055xprob, the few reviews that I've found on this tripod gave me ease of mind about buying it. It's a bit lighter than the mafrotto and is also smaller when closed, but it is shorter without the center column extended. I'm 6'1 and find it good height. Also saved a few bucks. The tripod feels as if it will last just as long as the trusty 055xprob, but will have to wait and see, lifetime warranty is nice as well.
Pros: High quality, sturdy, and looks and feels very well built. Love the center column, and love the spiked/rubber feet.
Cons: Haven't owned it long enough to come up with any, and I hope it stays this way.
Summary: I like how when the SBH-250 Ball Head is attached, it is still very light weight and compact fitting into the travel bag with the adjustable shoulder strap.
Pros: I read the first customer review and decided to buy this with the SBH-250 Ball Head as recommended, and I am very satisfied with this overall product. Though this is my first tripod, I've been around enough cheap tripods to know you get what you pay for. This will do everything you expect and more. The tripod itself comes with a travel bag, and a stone bag that can hang in the center for either added weight or to hold stuff. Bags are man made material, an added plus b...
Summary: didn't see this in person before purchase. Always purchased Bogen/Manfrotto pods in the past - served us well but they are not always the pinnacle of design. Did alot of reading and researching (pretty easy nowadays) to decide on Vanguard. We shoot weddings and location work - so we'll see how this works out after a year of use and abuse...
Pros: Great value and tripod! I own a Pro Photography Studio and we've owned many pods over the years. This is my first Vanguard equipment purchase and I am impressed with the design and quality of the craftmanship. I purchased the SBH 250 Ball Head also and the together they make a very affordable quality solid pod. I was a little concerned with the multi angle center column and instant swivel stop n lock system that the pod may not have a solid rigid feeling or integrity ...
Cons: legs are bit stiff but i expect them to loosen with use
Summary: Aluminium does a good job holding everything in place and each and every feature has its own specialities not light weight but you know its not light weight for a reason, hook it up with a gh-100 and you can go around the world with this tripod without getting a scratch on your cam. My best buy ever!
Awesome and best buy for beginners and profesionals alike
