Excerpt: I bought this tripod for macro work. I like how easy it is to bring up the center column and swing to the side. But be careful on the length when pulling up the bar because the camera will make it heavy on one side to cause a tip over. Overall works great.
Excerpt: I was worried about height, but this tripod is more than adequate for my 5'9" frame. My favorite thing though by far, is the center column! I love how it allows me to position the camera at so many different angles.
Excerpt: My first "real" tripod. My others have been El Cheapo and good only for use on even, solid ground. Haven't stress-tested it yet, but I'm looking forward to doing so soon. Based on my playing with it so far, I have a great deal of confidence it will suit my needs.
Pros: Folds Small, Good Stability, Lightweight, Unfolds Quickly
The Vanguard Alta Pro 263 AT.......A great product!!
15 August 2012
Summary: I purchased this tripod about a month ago and have taken it on several photowalks through some major cities (Atlanta, New York, San Francisco). This tripod lends itself well to this kind of use. It is extremely sturdy....even with my 5DM2 on it.
Pros: Extremely sturdy, versatile, and easy to set up in a hurry.
Cons: Can be a wee bit on the heavy side if carrying for long lengths of time.
Excerpt: This is the most versatile tripod I have seen. It can be adjusted for any conceivable position. The leg widths can be adjusted to three different degree's. Add a ballhead and there is no limit to what angle or direction you can shoot.
Pros: Bought this tripod in Oct 2010 and paired it with Vanguard's SBH-250 ballhead. Have been very happy with both. Have recommended it to friends interested in both still photo and video recording. Very fast shipping from newegg as usual.
Excerpt: Bought this based on the reviews and budgetary concerns. I think this was great value for the money. The "adjustable" center post is great for macro and/or weird angles that may be needed for an off-camera flash. It is "heavyish" but I don't take five mile hikes with my tripod.
