Not well machined

Jessica, B&H Photo
17 June 2015
  • Excerpt: I've had similar Slik heads before that were great - nice and smooth. With this model I had to return the first one since upon tightening the head for the first time the ball was being seriously scratched up. Figured it was a fluke and asked for an exchange.
  • Pros: Easy To Use
  • Cons: Poor Design

Solid ballhead for the price

Nomi, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: Performs great and holds in place well–quick release plate bushing is kinda lame. They used some generic cork material which there isn't a replacement cork material once it wears out.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fits Well, Improves Tripod Function, Solid/Sturdy
  • Cons: Poor Design

Great small ballhead

Duncan, B&H Photo
11 April 2014
  • Excerpt: I use this Slik ballhead with my Panasonic GX7 (micro 4/3) system on a monopod. It holds my camera and lenses (even my Panasonic 100-300mm) very steady, with no signs of creep. The quick release plate snaps into position quickly and easily, and it won't pop off unless you push the release handle all...

Well-built and Substantial

Jim's opinion, Adorama
11 June 2013
  • Excerpt: Head was bought for a monopod so I wasn't worried about brawn. It is large enough to by-pass the "compact" label. It easily handles a Nikon and 70-300 lens.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Improves Tripod Function, Solid/Sturdy

Good Value

Gold Swan Consulting, B&H Photo
9 April 2013
  • Excerpt: I bought this ballhead to go on a monopod. It is just the right size for an SLR with wide angle or short telephoto lens. Adding the ballhead really increases the versatility of a monopod and carrying the monopod is a lot easier than toting around a heavy tripod.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fits Well, Improves Tripod Function, Quick Adjustment, Solid/Sturdy

Compact use only

Tito Montoya, B&H Photo
2 December 2012
  • Excerpt: Slips a bit no matter how tight you go. Okay for compacts but wouldn't use for dslr. Wish it wasn't cork as it has started to wear already. Should be rubber. Reasonable quality considering the cost.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fits Well
  • Cons: Loose Clamp
