Summary: When I read " Difficult To Adjust, Heavy, Jerky Movement, Slips Out Of Position"I was shocked, heavy?? it clearly says the weight, it's the reason why I bought the item as its heavy. jerky? its as smooth as silk, slips out of position? Maybe it was not being operated properly as Mine is solid as a rock.
Pros: Easily Adjusted, Good Footing, Heavy, Locks In Tight, Smooth Movement
Summary: Needed a good stable tripod without paying the top prices. This is a sturdy robust tripod and feels very secure when in place. Recently used on a beach in high winds and didn't move. However the turn lock adjustments on the legs are a bit difficult to adjust easily, (I am used the snap lock ones on my husbands tripod which are much easier to use when wanting to adjust "in the field").
Summary: I bought this as a tripod for my wife and as a back up studio tripod...it won't really do for either. It is is heavy which could be a plus in the studio except that the adjustments aren't good enough for studio work. It is difficult to set as the leg adjusters, although three position, aren't positive at all so you aren't sure where you have set them until you try to open the legs out once opened the adjusters stick, making releasing that setting difficult.
Cons: Difficult To Adjust, Heavy, Jerky Movement, Slips Out Of Position
Summary: The Slik Able 300DX is a relatively small and lightweight tripod for small to medium sized cameras and is ideal for use around the home. I bought it specially for use with a 'Digital Compact' camera, and for this it's perfect. However, for outdoor use or for using with heavier cameras I'd recommend a more professional tripod (and my own preference here is for the Manfrotto's). This Slik model seems good value. It's made in Thailand and seems reasonably well made.
Summary: If stability and ease of use are what you're after then this is the chap ...as solid as they come, with all the flexibility most pictures will ever require ...not the lightest at around 2kg but hardly a burden. The attached pan-head is easy to use, and attaching you're camera could not be any easier. Comes with easy-to-understand instruction manual just to make its point, and is pre-assembled so the non-technically minded need not worry.
