Good enough for an amateur

 • Excerpt: The SLIK 505QF is perfect for jobs that don't require a lot of mobility, as it is a bit heavy as other reviews say.

I use it to record video games, tennis and skits.

The pan head is nice. Everything is stable.

The only con is the imprecise slideout legs.
 • Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Use

Great Tripod, Dissapointed in Fluid Head

Lloyd, B&H Photo
2 August 2011
 • Excerpt: This tripod is really built well and works well. I like the way the verticle shaft locks. I would prefer flip locks instead of twist locks on the legs but that is just personal. The twist locks work well. I am however dissapoinded in the head. I think it has room for improvement to match the advertising. Maybe I am expecting too much, like really smooth panning. Maybe I will grow to like it or maybe it will wear in. I don't know at this point.

Good heavy duty tripod

8 December 2010
 • Excerpt: I recently purchased this for use in interviews and short pieces for events. This has a smooth pan and tilt and so far seems to hold up. Please keep in mind that this is a heavy tripod, so it will get heavy after a full days use.
 • Pros: Holds position well, Improves Performance, Professional Quality, Sturdy
 • Cons: Heavy bulky

Great Tripod, Not Sure if Worth the $$$

Anthony the Worship Leader, B&H Photo

 • Excerpt: I am using this tripod as a camcorder tripod for my church. It tracks very smoothly and is very sturdy. I have been impressed with its, er, slick movement. It does seem awfully expensive, however, so I will interested to see how it does over time compared to other tripods.
 • Pros: Easy To Use, Improves Performance, Professional Quality
 • Cons: EXPENSIVE

Great Tripod

yoprimo, B&H Photo
21 May 2008
 • Excerpt: Really smooth head for pans & tilts and strong steady legs for heavier cameras. Only thing I would change would be the twist (round) tighteners on each leg. I prefer the clamp kind that you push down to tighten and pull up to release because it is faster to set up & break down.
 • Pros: Good Footing, Lightweight, Locks In Tight, Smooth Movement
 • Cons: Difficult To Adjust
