solid tripod, some concerns

Jake B, B&H Photo
4 March 2014
 • Excerpt: +overall, a solid set of legs. lightweight for the size, plenty heavy for a large DLSR (5DM3) but not overly big (like the "crutch" style legs)
+MVH502A fluid head is a good value for the price. Adjustable drag on pan and tilt; hard to find at this price.
+Adjusts plenty high and plenty low
-Description states "illuminated bubble level". There is no back light, it simply has a florescent-like glow background.
 • Pros: Good Stability, Lightweight, Unfolds Quickly
 • Cons: Heavy

Great for the price

 • Excerpt: I got this to use as a reasonably priced video tripod that was light enough to carry up a mountain and versatile and stable enough to set on various terrains. On the one hand the legs were even sturdier than I imagined, capable of holding far more weight than the head supports, but it's also less stable than other carbon fiber legs I've used. I hate dealing with spreaders but I find myself wanting one when dealing with these sticks at times.
 • Pros: Good Stability, Lightweight, Low angle shots, Unfolds Quickly
 • Cons: Unstable

Great Tripod

Big Bob, B&H Photo
29 August 2013
 • Excerpt: I purchased this tripod specifically to use with my GH3 and boy does it do the job. Although there were less expensive tripods out there, I couldn't gamble with a poor tripod head and legs that would give me unstable video. This tripod has three great attributes. The first is that the 502 head gives you super fluid pans and tilts. It also gives you the ability to adjust the drag which is great.

Great system

 • Excerpt: I had been putting off purchasing a video tripod and fluid head system for HDSLR for a while, mostly because I wanted to try and find the best bang/buck (I am, after all, only a serious amateur) and I didn't have a lot of money to spend (again, amateur). I knew I wanted to buy Manfrotto because I've been using older Manfrotto sticks and head for photo, It's quality stuff and I'm familiar with the brand. The carbon fiber sticks are great. Lightweight and strong!

Solid combination

Oleg, B&H Photo
11 October 2012
 • Excerpt: Great solid tripod and quite tall. It also spreads down quite low so also useful to shoot quite low to the ground.

I bought this combo for a DSLR and the legs are a bit overkill for it IMO but they are very sturdy and strong.

Not the lightest tripod out there so keep that in mind.
 • Pros: Good Stability, Unfolds Quickly
 • Cons: Heavy

Great Tripod for the price!!!

Kellenito, B&H Photo
3 July 2012
 • Excerpt: I recently acquired this tripod to replace a much heavier tripod I was using with my Ex-3...This bad boy is about 1/7 the weight and can pan and tilt with the best of them! I usually have to move around a lot to get the shots I need, having a light weight, reliable tripod along for the ride assures me some peace of mind.
