Sturdy little fluid head for the money.

29 July 2014
  • Excerpt: I am shooting a little 3D documentary on the fountains of Kansas City. (Not for public consumption.) I owned the Manfrotto legs but the three way locking head was great for stills not very useful for motion shots. This mini head allows me to set up quickly and add smooth pans and tilts to my shots. The quicklocking mount makes it easy to easy to take off the JVC Everio and resist the urge to carry around the camera and legs except for small moves.
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Ease Of Attachment, Good Stability, Handles Larger Camcorder, Large Range of Motion, Strong Clamp

Better than expected

  • Excerpt: I purchased this fluid head to reduce the amount of equipment I bring on trips. I own a couple 701 and 502 heads. Both of which are great, but too bulky for light trips. I was expecting a something with far less usability than my other heads. I was way off. This thing is built very well and has a great feel. You can't put a full rig on it, but for a camera, mic and small follow-focus system, it works great.
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability

Very nice video head

  • Excerpt: Very nice video head on a budget. I decided on this head for the price, functions and the fact that I already had a Bogen tripod. I removed the squeeze ball head and replaced it with this video head. This video head is well made, smooth, locks solidly in place and has a standard Bogen/Manfrotto quick release built in. I shoot both video and stills on the same shoot and this works well for replacing the video with still camera.
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion, Strong Clamp

  • Excerpt: Was looking for a smaller fluid pan head for using on a carbon fiber tripod ..mainly for camera but also a leupold spotting scope. This fit perfectly and is a quality product that just feels right in the hands. It will be my go to combo from now on.

Weight Savings

Jeff, Eagle Optics
23 November 2013
  • Summary: I have a Swarovski 80mm scope. I had been using Manfrotto metal legs and 128RC head. I purchased the Manfrotto 190CX3 carbon fiber legs to save 2 lbs. I purchased this 700RC2 head to save 1 lb over the 128RC head. Both heads use the same quick release plate which works very well. Manfrotto has a very good way of connecting the legs to the head. The 128RC is an excellent head if weight is not an issue. The 700RC2 handles the Swarovski 80mm scope without any problems.

  • Excerpt: We use this head on tripods and tree camera arms to film hunting videos. It is perfect for the Canon G10 and G30 cameras that we have which weigh no more than 3 lbs. For this type of camera, you can't go wrong!
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion

Great product!

  • Excerpt: This Manfrotto tripod head works beautifully. It is the ideal head that I would use if I know that I will be on the go shooting photos. I have used this with my Canon 5D Mark II using a 50mm & 85mm lens on camping and hiking trips. Of course I would recommend using a more robust head if you have heavier gear (I also have Manfrotto 502HD Pro Video Head with Flat Base (3/8"-16 Connection)).

Works well for DSLR video.

MTM Studios, B&H Photo
12 July 2013
  • Excerpt: I'm shooting semi-pro video and wanted a fluid head for travel with an RC2 quick release. This head is very smooth, lightweight and overall all you can ask for. You cannot really adjust the speed tension of the pan or tilt, it's either tight or loose, but the loose has very smooth resistance, there are no loose/quick movements with this head. Great for smooth video work, I could see tracking an airshow performance with this head and it turning out great.
