Works great

Adorama
20 May 2014
  • Excerpt: I have always been a ballhead shooter until I purchased this gearhead. I mostly do landscapes and architectural photography. Having the gear head has made it significantly easier and faster to level out my camera. Plus I no longer have to worry that the ballhead will loosen and the camera will drop lens forward. So far I'm happy with all aspects of this product and would recommend it.
  • Pros: Accurate Leveling Of Cam, Control Of The Camera, Fast Horiz And Vert Adj, Improves Tripod Function, Solid/Sturdy
  • Cons: So Far No Cons

Great product, well built.

  • Excerpt: I use this geared head for architechtural and real estate photography. Very precise and easy to use. The wide plate holds the camera very stable. Well built and works great on top the Manfrotto tripod, even on days with winds gusting up to 15~20 mph. The geared head attaches to the tripod via center bolt, plus 3 smaller bolts on the perimter of the mounting plate to hold it very stable without any movement or slop on the tripod.
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion

Excellent Product

HCB, Adorama
26 March 2013
  • Excerpt: I find this just a bit frustrating at first to adjust as I am not used to the adjustment mechanism. However, making the fine adjustments to level the camera is immensely better and easier than a lesser 3 way head. It is very strong, well built and everything locks in place easily and securely.
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion, Strong Clamp
  • Cons: Heavy

For Precision Work.

The Photog, Adorama
13 February 2013
  • Excerpt: This geared head makes camera positioning and composition precise and consistent. It makes leveling the horizontal and vertical axes a lot easier and faster, as shown and confirmed by both electronic and manual bubble levels. The knob can use a better material, that is the reason for not giving it 5 stars. I can give if 4.5 stars if that is possible, because that is a minor concern.
  • Pros: Good Stability, Make Positioning Precise

My new favorite head

Tony D, Adorama
31 December 2012
  • Excerpt: Let's get rid of the one downside: it's heavy. It weighs as much as the Manfrotto 055CXPRO4 that it's mounted to. This is not a backpack to the top of a mountain head. However, for everything else, it is exceptional. I figured I would use it exclusively for Macro work, was I wrong! I have placed my ball heads back in their boxes...I'll pull them out for a backpacking trip, but little else. This head is not only precise, it's very strong.
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion, Strong Clamp
  • Cons: Heavy

Solid Citizen

BlairWare, Adorama
15 December 2012
  • Excerpt: Fantastic head that is great for precise composition. The mounting plates are inexpensive and the mount is secure. I use it for 6x7, 4x5 and 5x7 work where it excels. It's heavier than a good ballhead, but you have much better control. It would be lousy for sports or birds as it would be too slow and awkward to use.We also use these for mounting 15lb video projectors from ceilings. They give excellent control in that application.
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion, Precise control, Strong Clamp
  • Cons: Heavy

R U a Control Freak?

Adorama
27 August 2012
  • Excerpt: This geared head has no competition at this price point, so don't try to compare it to anything else. If you need high precision movements in a controlled, easy-to-use, and reasonable weight package, this is the best you can find. I just wish they'd add more levels to work with.
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, High Precision, Strong Clamp
  • Cons: Heavy, Needs more bubble levels, Slow but sure
