Best Geared Head-Worth the Price

  • Excerpt: This geared head is incredibly precise and well worth the price. I am an architectural photographer and love the way this head works. With any other head it took time to make the camera perfectly level. Even then some corrections had to be made in postproduction.
  • Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Set Up, Precise

The greatest tripod head in the history of the universe

  • Excerpt: "Speed and precision." That pretty much says it. It has a quick setting for all axis, and fine adjustment on the knobs. It has dial indicators and a bubble level. I've had every kind of tripod, starting with a Star-D, several Manfrotto heads and tripods, and this is the best of the bunch so far.
  • Pros: Attractive Design, Easy To Use, Solidly Built

Best head ever.

  • Excerpt: I am a big fan of the manfrotto brand. I trust them for quality long lasting products. I am sorry I waited so long to purchase this product. It was honestly a $$ issue. But now I see I was ignorant and naïve in my thinking. This head has already helped me save time in my workflow.

Big, Bold With Great Control

  • Excerpt: This is one big head, with the mass to match. It can do sweeping adjustments with a slight twist or fine movement with the dials.Best for fixed photography (anywhere where you are not moving the head and tripod around a lot).
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up

Great Head / Terrible Support.

  • Excerpt: I adore this head and have used it avidly for years. Recently it broke and I had the worst time with Manfrotto to get it replaced. It was a 4 month, drawn out process. I detailed more about it on my blog .... but it's safe to say...

One Of The Best Options Available

Bob, B&H Photo
19 October 2014
  • Excerpt: This is my second 405 and I can't imagine working without it. I shoot a lot of interiors and the precision of the 405 just makes my setup so much easier. It's heavy as heck, but the speed, ease of use, durability and precision more than offset that.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy To Set Up, Intuitive Use, Precise
  • Cons: Heavy

  • Excerpt: if you like architecture and product/still life, and you are spending a lot of time on each shot that you take, this is the perfect tripod head for you. Yes, the price tag is bit high, but trust me for what you get, it really justify the price.
  • Pros: Easy To Set Up, Energy Efficient, Great Picture
  • Cons: For Very Specific Use, Not For Beginners
