Summary: Though a bit expensive, it works well, and is well designed. I like the locking system, which prevents you from accidentally unlocking it by catching on the handle. I use it with my PD-150 and my glidecam, and it works wonderful. Now I don't have to rebalance the glidecam each time I want to take the camera off for a handheld or tripod shot.
Summary: I am using this release on my monopod with plates on my D300, D80 and D90. It is faster for me to do the tilt in with the heavier cameras and lens, than using the slide-in type adapters. I just set them in place and they drop into place. I also like the safety latch, which turns under out of the way. I also have a plate on my long lens that gives better balance. I trust it with my gear!
Summary: We live in an area that has lots of wildlife. I needed something for my camera or my camcorder that would give me the speed to attach to a tripod for time is of the essence doing this type of photography.
Summary: I now have three of these that I use for a lot of purposes. I use these to mount binoculars, scopes and cameras to tripods. On one tripod I even used one to rapidly change the heads. Great product.
Summary: I have purchased two of these in the past year or so and they are fantastic! I used the first one to custom-build a 90-degree bracket for my 701 head so that I can put a camera on it in vertical orientation and the other to replace the stock threads on my Giottos MH-1001 with a QR plate. This is a great 'old-stady-by' piece of equipment and I'd highly recommend it.
Summary: What to say about a quick release adapter... It comes with a removable bushing in the base mount so you can put it on either a 1/4-20 or 3/8-16 screw mount, making it very flexible. Just don't lose that bushing! I bought this because I already have a Manfrotto tripod that this is compatible with. So this can get swapped around at will between my 2 camcorders and audio recorder.
