Excerpt: Bought this to go on the Manfrotto 190X PROB tripod. It's a perfect match. WIth the pull-out center stem on the 190X PROB, this joystick head provides incredible adjustability and infinite possibilities. Simply squeeze the trigger and put the camera where you need it or want it to be. It stays. Beautifully stable. No "slippage". Absolutely no "creeping" or "crawling" due to the weight of the camera.
Pros: Extreme ease of use, infinite adjustability, stability
Summary: I used the 222 Grip on both my monopod and tripod on a recent Alaska trip. It was great flipping from landscape to port. No doubt its heavy but appears to add to stability when taking that long exposure.
Summary: Lets me concentrate on the view through the lens, and make rapid adjustments without extra steps or distractions. Quality is very good. I was concerned about the holding ability with the weight limit at 2.5 kg, but it holds a Nikon D80, 18-200 VR lens, and SB-800 flash nicely.
Pros: Becomes part of hand, Fine Design, Great Build Quality, Improves Tripod Function, Intuitive and logical
Summary: This is a fantastic head for your tripod if you are shooting pictures, but I have never used it for video. The quick release and lock have saved my camera a few times, and the ease of pointing and setting the camera could not be easier. I have had it for about 3 years now and I have used it in all kinds of climates and terrains, and other than a few dings and scratches it still works like new. So far no cons!
Summary: This is a great attachment to the tripod that I purchased for my camera. It provides one of the fastest adjustment systems I've seen. It's heavy construction provides a great stable base for even my heaviest lenses. Just don't expect it to work great for video cameras because it doesn't provide smooth panning shots. For stills or videos that don't require much movement, it's great!
Pros: Compact, Fits Well, Improves Tripod Function
