Excerpt: I purchased this product as a cost effective alternative to a studio stand. For my use, I have it mounted on a tripod. On the left side I mounted a Manfrotto ball head. On the right side I have my HPRC laptop platfrom. This allows me to shoot tethered with ease. I'm using it for product photography. It really does the job well. It will never be a Titan, but it costs 1/10th of a studio stand.
Excerpt: I'm using this for four purposes:
1) To support a 5d MkII and a laptop for tethered shooting
2) For dual (still/video camera) shooting
3) As a horizontal extension for shooting vertically
4) To hold a DSLR, external monitor, and Zoom recorder for video

Works well for all uses. Very heavy and rigid. Underscores the need for a VERY sturdy AND heavy tripod. No carbon fiber here.
Pros: Good Stability, Heavy, Heavy And Rigid, Very Secure, Well made
Excerpt: The arm itself feels solid on the tripod. There is a little shake when punching the keys on your laptop. I used it outdoors for an event. Given the conditions, I could have a fast enough shutter speed that the images came out very sharp, anyway. The whole setup with the laptop tray and Camera Control Pro software had one other issue. I ended up hanging the camera off one end with my ball head to get a portrait mode composition.
Pros: Easy To Use, Improves Tripod Function, Solid/Sturdy
