Excerpt: I have micro and mini Manfrotto ballheads for my DSLR (Digital SLR) camera and love their compact size, light weight and reliable operation. I wanted a compact and lightweight fluid head for shooting video with my DLSR. The Manfrotto 128LP is a good fluid head but micro is a serious misnomer. The 128LP is a chunky, 1 kg fluid head with a large plate and 4kg load rating. It's overkill to use this for a lightweight DSLR.
Excerpt: I returned the previous head I purchased because of the choppy way the head moved and it sat on a cork bed -- not good. Though this head was double the price, it is well worth it. The head is perfect for the scope I purchased for birdwatching.
Excerpt: Very smooth, very sturdy, very satisfied. I'm glad I purchased with the sliding camera mount so I can balance the camera with a zoom. The thumbscrew camera mounting isn't too slow. Bear in mind that if your legs are less than 4 pounds the entire tripod risks moving around during a sudden pan. I solved it with my legs by using gaffer tape to fasten a small steel plate to the lower section of each leg to add weight when shooting video.
Pros: Sliding Mount, Very smooth movement, Well Built
Excerpt: I was looking for a fluid head that was inexpensively priced to use with a small table top tripod. This fit the bill and provides smooth movement. However I do feel the movement is a bit stiff. For a larger tripod it would be fine but for a micro setup the tripods feet often move while panning. I coupled this with Manfrotto's table top tripod and 10" extension. Hopefully the head will loosen up with use.
Pros: Good Stability, Large Range of Motion, Moveable Angled Handle, Very smooth movement
Excerpt: We inherited a Bogen/Manfrotto tripod for a smaller video camera. This head is the perfect interface. It's smooth handling and easy to adjust. And, like all Manfrotto gear, it's built to last a lifetime. We've never discarded any of their gear because it wore out.
Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion, Strong Clamp
Excerpt: Unfortunately, I thought this tripod head would fit onto a standard still camera tripod--it does not. The fitting on the pan and tilt head is larger than a standard photo tripod head and I had to return it for credit. B & H was great for the order and the return. The only problem was with the product description and specifications omitting the simple requirement for a larger fitting on the tripod.
