excellent head

  • Excerpt: I returned the previous head I purchased because of the choppy way the head moved and it sat on a cork bed -- not good. Though this head was double the price, it is well worth it. The head is perfect for the scope I purchased for birdwatching.
  • Pros: Strong Clamp

Very Satisfied

  • Excerpt: Very smooth, very sturdy, very satisfied. I'm glad I purchased with the sliding camera mount so I can balance the camera with a zoom. The thumbscrew camera mounting isn't too slow. Bear in mind that if your legs are less than 4 pounds the entire tripod risks moving around during a sudden pan. I solved it with my legs by using gaffer tape to fasten a small steel plate to the lower section of each leg to add weight when shooting video.
  • Pros: Sliding Mount, Very smooth movement, Well Built

Reasonably priced

  • Excerpt: I was looking for a fluid head that was inexpensively priced to use with a small table top tripod. This fit the bill and provides smooth movement. However I do feel the movement is a bit stiff. For a larger tripod it would be fine but for a micro setup the tripods feet often move while panning. I coupled this with Manfrotto's table top tripod and 10" extension. Hopefully the head will loosen up with use.
  • Pros: Good Stability, Large Range of Motion, Moveable Angled Handle, Very smooth movement
  • Cons: Stiff movement

As good as it gets

  • Excerpt: This is amazingly good for the price. It's as smooth as anything in its class. For a small camera (like a DSLR) you won't go wrong with this.

  • Excerpt: We inherited a Bogen/Manfrotto tripod for a smaller video camera. This head is the perfect interface. It's smooth handling and easy to adjust. And, like all Manfrotto gear, it's built to last a lifetime. We've never discarded any of their gear because it wore out.
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion, Strong Clamp

Get the right tripod

TWM, B&H Photo
17 June 2013
  • Excerpt: Unfortunately, I thought this tripod head would fit onto a standard still camera tripod--it does not. The fitting on the pan and tilt head is larger than a standard photo tripod head and I had to return it for credit. B & H was great for the order and the return. The only problem was with the product description and specifications omitting the simple requirement for a larger fitting on the tripod.

Good for what it is.

  • Excerpt: I got this head as part of a kit. I use my Canon for video work, so I needed the ability to pan and tilt. What I like about this head is that the pan/tilt motions are fairly customizable. It takes some playing with but it can be easily used. What I'm not keen on is the way it attaches- I'm used to attaching the camera to a foot instead of screwing it directly into the head.
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion
  • Cons: Complicated Controls, Heavy

Wonderful Tripod Head

Easter Ferret, B&H Photo
25 October 2012
  • Excerpt: I had access to this tripod & head at work, so I was able to take it for a test drive to a few events. I loved it so much I bought the exact same model. Great for taking video of sporting events, which involve lots of fast, smooth panning. Made my small camera feel solid. Made in Italy, not China. I have nothing bad to say about it.
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion
