  • Excerpt: The Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 is a large but light professional tripod designed for general-purpose use. It's one of the tallest and strongest models in the range, but surprisingly light thanks to its carbon fiber construction. Like most higher-end tripods, the 055CXPRO3 does not come with a head as a standard. Instead it features a plate onto which you can mount a wide variety of optional heads to match your exact requirements.

Manfrotto 055CX Pro3

  • Summary: ePHOTOzine use the 055x ProB as the studio standard so I've had a lot of use from it to compare. In use, it's the same tripod with the leg levers being just as difficult to use. The legs of the older model have loosened over time and the legs will now drop on their own. Hopefully, the coarser texture of the carbon fibre will add friction and stop it happening on the newer model.
  • Pros: Carbon fibre construction, Lightweight, Increased load tolerance, Q90 horizontal centre column
  • Cons: Lighter weight could reduce sturdiness, No spiked feet
