General Purpose Medium load Tripod

JBAstro, Adorama
22 December 2013
  • Excerpt: For a combination of price, function, and load this is the best tripod I have found. I use it for photography and astronomy. Rock solid within it weight limits. Perfect for any SLR and most 90mm short focal length telescope. Depending on the head you use it is great for both terrestrial and astronomical use.
  • Pros: Folds Small, Good Stability, Lightweight, Unfolds Quickly

  • Excerpt: I use the 028B as part of a multicamera setup. I mount a motorized pan & tilt head on it. I chose these legs for the height - 7.45 feet(8.27m)! It's the third one I've owned.
  • Pros: Good Stability

Rock solid

Red Fern, B&H Photo
14 July 2013
  • Excerpt: Though this is meant as a heavy studio tripod, I bought it to use as a sturdy base for a portable astrophotography setup. I needed it to support up to 20lbs of equipment that would be rotating on a gear, and couldn't move a millimeter. And I have to say, as long as there was little to no wind, this worked perfectly. Very pleased with it, though I would recommend using it for applications where you won't have to carry it much, as it is very heavy.
  • Pros: Excellent construction, Good Stability, Solid, Unfolds Quickly
  • Cons: Heavy
