  • Excerpt: This tripod is perfect for shooting laydowns on location or in a studio. The height is beyond fantastic. It is easy to open, super light weight which is amazing when you are traveling and need the height. I would recommend to anyone and would buy it again.

Best tripod I have ever used

  • Excerpt: I am a full-time architectural photographer, and this is simply the best tripod I have ever used. I originally purchased this unit as a specialty item, in order to capture slightly elevated views of residential properties. I also own a telescopic mast, which is great for reaching heights of 10ft - 60ft, but at the expense of time and fatigue from the considerable set up.
  • Pros: Durable, Easy to Use

  • Excerpt: I wanted a tripod sturdy enough to handle my telephotos up to 600mm +/- teleconverters. This tripod is a very nice addition to the 3-series Systematic I already own and use regularly. I don't think I'll need another tripod the rest of my life!
  • Pros: Durable, Easy to Use, Sturdy

  • Excerpt: Very nice design and well built. A bit heavy though. I purchased this tripod cause I was considering the fact that you will always encounter slopes, no matter how slight.
  • Pros: Good Stability, Unfolds Quickly
  • Cons: Heavy

Reaching new heights

CW, B&H Photo
30 May 2012
  • Excerpt: Love this tripod. Had the original mountaineer, it was too light. Love the G-locks, it makes adjusting heights easy. This is one tripod that will last a lifetime. My only complain is for the price I wish it came with a bag.
  • Pros: Good Stability, Unfolds Quickly
  • Cons: Expensive

What a set of legs!

Gazwas, WEX

  • Summary: There is nothing quite like the Gitzo Series 5 Giant out there in the tripod world and what a amazing bit of kit it is. There is no getting around the weight, even with all that carbon fibre trekking up mountains is off the cards unless you take a mule. However, when you consider the height this thing goes too it soon becomes obvious why and it's actually is very good all things considered.
  • Pros: Easily Adjusted, Good Footing, Height, Locks In Tight
  • Cons: Heavy, Price
