Series 5 - 3 section Long

Dan, B&H Photo
4 January 2015
  • Excerpt: I bought this for a grab and go telescope tripod and so far it exceeds my expectations. I'm glad I went with the 3 sections instead of 4 for the quicker setup. I will say the hook on the bottom is kinda bleh but easily upgraded for 2 bucks at a home improvement store.
  • Pros: Compact, Durable, Easy to Use, Lightweight

Well woth the money.

Professor Fred, B&H Photo
14 October 2014
  • Excerpt: I purchased this tripod to use with Nikon's 600mm and a Gimbal head. The lens is heavy but the tripod is rock solid. It was a great platform to work from. Just returned from a wildlife shoot on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The tripod was quick to set-up and is light for the load it will easily handle.

Rock Solid - Maybe Overkill

Monic, B&H Photo
18 February 2014
  • Excerpt: This tripod is incredibly study and built like a tank. Maybe it's even a bit of an overkill for my purposes. It will support my entire weight (180#) so a DSLR and 400 mm lens is easily supported.
  • Pros: Extremely Solid, Good Stability, Unfolds Quickly
  • Cons: Heavy

Worth the investment if you own a 600mm

Glenn, B&H Photo
2 January 2014
  • Excerpt: Another high quality Gitzo product. I own a smaller Gitzo tripod, which I purchased along with my 200-400mm lens. However, I found that the smaller tripod was not as steady with a 600mm. This tripod fits the bill.
  • Pros: Good Stability

  • Excerpt: I have mixed feelings about this tripod but I will still give it five stars based on the fact that what I encountered was definitely a rarity. This tripod is top of the line, but the original tripod I recieved had a manufacturer defect.
  • Pros: Good Stability, Light 4 Weight Capacity, Unfolds Quickly

Photogcam, Adorama
20 July 2013
  • Excerpt: I use this tripod with a Wimberley gimbal mount (version 2) for my 300-800mm Sigma telephoto lens with Nikon D series cameras. It is superbly solid in its support. I had bee using another carbon fiber tripod that supports 40 pounds but the difference is incredible. If you use lenses that are larger...

30 June 2013
  • Excerpt: I use this with a Wimberly WH-200 for my Sigma 300-800mm and either a Nikon D3 or D800 and it is a superb support. It is the sturdiest tripod I have ever used and I highly recommend this tripod.

Very stable tripod

Bill, B&H Photo
18 February 2013
  • Excerpt: This is actually the second one of these I bought. I had one I have been using with a ball head attached. When I purchased a Wimberley full gimbal head, I bought this one so I wouldn't wear the threads out changing them. This is a superb quality, very stable tripod.
  • Pros: Good Stability, Unfolds Quickly
  • Cons: No Bag To Fit W Head On
