The last tripod I will buy.

 • Excerpt: I'm 6'5" tall and needed the extra height. This tripod is easily tall enough and is rock solid. It's a Gitzo... enough said.
 • Pros: Good Stability, Unfolds Quickly

Just get it!

 • Excerpt: I am one to buy cheep once to try it to see if I like it than spend the big money once so I never have to buy again. This is replacing a used bogen 3021 that I thought would be good enough for as much as I use a tripod. Till I started to "use" the tripod. I found it to be fine if I was doing flash but not much else. I read all the reviews for all types of tripods but most things I read for doing nature kept pointing to the 3 series for it's load capacity & flexibility.
 • Pros: Ultra Stable
 • Cons: Wish It Had Spring Loaded

Great Tripod

SculptER, B&H Photo
17 October 2013
 • Excerpt: Used with a 50-500mm Sigma/Bigma, Jobu Pro2 Gimbal head and Nikon D800, this tripod is rock solid. Once you have the legs set, it does not move. The leg extension is a snap once you get used to how it operates. It is not an easy adjustment from the snap and slip designs, so give it some time for you to get used to it. Spreading it out is not a one handed job. This is a take your time, set it up, then shoot apparatus.
 • Pros: Good Stability
 • Cons: Cumbersome, Heavy

Stable, Well-made, Really Tall!

Adorama

 • Excerpt: The tripod has been perfect for the 1DX and 70-200 I have been using - especially with a Arca-Swiss Z1 dp ball-head, which sits on top of the tripod perfectly.

It is also really tall so I don't really need to extend all 3 extendable sections, usually one and half would do on flat ground.
 • Pros: Lightweight, Unfolds Quickly

Built Like a Tank

 • Excerpt: I'm an avid amateur photographer shooting mostly landscape and some 'Urban Grunge' stuff. A tripod is an essential part of my work. A great tripod makes it so much easier to move around and get the right shot. This Gitzo tripod is a GREAT tripod. The legs are rock solid and easy to adjust. I love how low this thing can go (no center column). I mated it with a Really Right Stuff BH-55 head for a great combo. This isn't the lightest tripod out there.
 • Pros: Good Stability, Unfolds Quickly
 • Cons: A bit pricey

Very solid tripod, despite it's height

3 June 2013
 • Excerpt: I should say that I ended up exchanging this tripod for the shorter model (GT3542LS). It was just more height than I needed. I did set it up though to test it out, and I was very impressed by how solid it was extended to almost full height. I set my full rig up on it to test it: Wimberely Head, Nikon D3, Nikon f4 600lens, 2x teleconverter, flash bracket, external battery, so there was a lot of weight on top. It was more than sturdy enough even for all of that.

Set for life

gfras11, B&H Photo

 • Excerpt: being 6'3" i was thinking the X-long tripod would be my best bet and it is! i only extend 2/3 sections to have my camera at eye level. its quick and easy to open up and collapse. i only need one hand and a half a turn to lock it in place. now i have the advantage for eg. at a surf comp with the tripod fully extended i could stand on a rock and get a better perspective with nothing obstructing. i can barely touch the top of the tripod when its all fully extended.
