Tough

George, B&H Photo
8 July 2015
  • Excerpt: Light, tough, good at absorbing vibration. This is an improvement over its predecessor, which had a center column that could not pivot, and which therefore prevented placing the camera very close to the ground.

Lightweight and versatile

6 January 2015
  • Excerpt: I've been using one of the predecessors to this Gitzo model for 11 or 12 years, but the leg locking mechanisms were beginning to deteriorate beyond repair so I wanted a replacement.

Excellent updated version

DD, B&H Photo
11 August 2013
  • Excerpt: This Tripod is an excellent all around tripod for a wide range of uses. With it's adjustable legs I can't imagine a space you couldn't creat a solid mount for your camera. Gitzo quality is amazing, the locking mechanisms for the legs are made from what seems to be a better quality plastic than the...

23 May 2012
  • Excerpt: Holds my D700 with 70-200 and teleconverter with no problems. Rock Solid. Makes me feels like I'm a better photographer because of the confindence this tripod gives me. Easily worth the price

Kenneth, B&H Photo
28 January 2012
  • Excerpt: This is the most flexible, yet sturdy, tripod that I've found. I shoot images down near water level in the large rocks along the coast (away from the beaches). Due to the flexibility of this tripod, I am able to adjust the legs in a way that locks the tripod in place in the rocks.

Best Macro/Bad Terrain Tripod

Pictureted, B&H Photo
2 October 2011
  • Excerpt: If you need to get your camera into awkward positions or in difficult situations, this is your tripod. It doesn't set up as quickly as other Gitzo's I've used, but that's because it's a bit more flexible.

I had thought they were too expensive...

NoelB, B&H Photo
2 August 2011
  • Excerpt: I had thought a carbon fiber tripod would be too expensive, not good value for money. Time will tell if my Gitzo GT2541EX 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod is good value, but I think it will be. A colleague bought a Gitzo and I was very impressed by the build quality, its compactness and its weight.
