Buy Hakuba PSTC 100 Tripod Case

Jim, Internet Shopper, B&H Photo
14 January 2014
  • Excerpt: The GM5541 is outstanding and I am not going to add to the other superlative reviews. However, you are going to require a case for it and your RRS MH-01 monopod head. I also added the 3" large foot, which is also recommended here. But, ... what to use as a case. Buy the Hakuba PSTC 100 tripod case which can handily fit all three items and store extra parts as well.

not for bird photography

toucan, Adorama
6 February 2013
  • Excerpt: I use a Nikon f4 500 lens on this monopod. Difficult to hold steady enough for sharp photos in comparision with a tripod. Probably okay for sports action but bird photography requires absolute sharpness. Grub screws in the monopod's headplate do not seem to serve any useful purpose due to their short length and certainly do not secure a video head. I emailed Adorama about this but they simply flick passed me to Gitzo Who have not bothered to respond.

Great Product

mdirvin, B&H Photo
15 December 2012
  • Excerpt: I use this while hiking around in the woods w/ either a Nikon 400 f2.8, or 300 f2.8. I have tried using a tripod, but it just wasn't practical. Following black bears w/ cubs, bucks, or doe's w/ their fawns in tow. Constantly having to change shooting heights, & trying to shoot around objects. Climbing over down trees etc... I has proven to be rock solid, easy & quick to adjust.

Very sturdy monopod

  • Excerpt: Quite expensive for a monopod but well worth the money, I love it!! Very thick and sturdy, holds up my nikon D4 with my 200-400 VR with no problem. Very thick so I guess you can use it for a walking stick or a baseball bat if need be,, just kidding.

Too large of a diameter

Enthusiast, B&H Photo
19 September 2012
  • Excerpt: I returned the unit, because the diameter of the upper section was too large to be comfortable. I wish the technical data would include the diameter. On the plus side the unit was very well made and if the tube had been smaller I would have kept it.
  • Pros: Strong Construction
  • Cons: Tube Diameter
