Quick Adjustments

Robtography LLC, B&H Photo
12 April 2015
  • Excerpt: Upgraded to this from a five-year old aluminum Manfrotto monopod. While it is indeed lighter than its prededessor, my favorite thing about it is the tightening knobs in each section. Just a quarter-turn takes you from tight to loose-enough-to-adjust.

Great Monopod

  • Excerpt: This monopod is very lightweight, easy to set up, and is rock solid. No need for a separate head, but a quick release base plate would be helpful for some applications. Very good purchase.
  • Pros: Compact, Lightweight, Opens Quickly, Strong Construction

Lightweight, compact, and useful

Suresh Basavaraju, B&H Photo
3 February 2015
  • Excerpt: I used to use a Manfrotto 682B Pro monopod which was aluminium and weighted half a pound more than the Gitzo and being 3 section, the manfrotto was about 6 inches more in folded height. Moreover it was a self standing monopod and the legs would rattle folded in when moving around.
  • Pros: Compact, Lightweight, Opens Quickly, Strong Construction
  • Cons: None

Worth The Money

Dave Donovan Photography, B&H Photo
11 September 2014
  • Excerpt: I started with an Oben carbon monopod because I thought I would save money. Although the Oben is a good monopod, it required two wrist turns when adjusting the length. The Gitzo is very quick and easy with only one wrist turn to adjust the length. Why does this matter?

Buy Hakuba PSTC 100 Tripod Case

Jim, Internet Shopper, B&H Photo
14 January 2014
  • Excerpt: The GM5541 is outstanding and I am not going to add to the other superlative reviews. However, you are going to require a case for it and your RRS MH-01 monopod head. I also added the 3" large foot, which is also recommended here. But, ... what to use as a case.
