Gitzo Bird Watching Head

Larry, B&H Photo
  • Excerpt: I got the Gitzo GH2720QR for use with my Kowa TSN 883 spotting scope. I selected the Gitzo based on reviews I read. Overall, I am satisfied with the Gitzo. The only issue I have is with the use of a single knob to tighten both the horizontal and vertical movement of the head.
  • Pros: Easily Adjusted, Locks In Tight, Smooth Movement

Great head, stupid mount

  • Excerpt: This is very fluid, solid and stable, it also works nicely for lightweight DSLR video panning, well worth the money. However, I'm giving 4 stars since the camera mounting screw is a loose screw (i.e., not attached to anything), not sure why such a great company would do something so stupid..
  • Pros: Easily Adjusted, Lightweight, Locks In Tight, Smooth Movement
  • Cons: Unattached Mounting Screw

What I found, however, when I connected just my scope (Swaro ATX 85mm) was that I really had to crank down on the nob to lock it into place and in the process...
