Summary: I needed a head to support some heavy hardware but didn't want to spend a fortune. The MH-3300 fits the bill perfectly. Even with my K20D, battery grip and a Sigma 100-300 (with TC) once I lock it, it stays there. Movement is pretty smooth all around as well once adjusted properly. The plate gives you a number of mounting options as well. The reason for 4 stars is it's a pretty heavy head.
Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion, Strong Clamp
Summary: I was thinking really hard about buying the traditional Arca-Swiss or even the Really Right Stuff ballheads, but I just couldn't see spending that kind of money on a ballhead. Yet I didn't want to get something flimsy or cheap either. I decided to try the Giottos MH-3300 Pro Series II Ballhead and wow is it even better than I had hoped. Sturdy as a rock, smooth, and extremely versatile, this is truly a value for the money and I recommend it highly.
Summary: I was looking for a capable but not-too-heavy ballhead formy Gitzo G1257 graphite tripod, that I use whenbackpacking, to support my 4x5 Crown Graphic. I had beendoing without a head of any kind, just using the leg-lengthadjustments to aim the camera, but this became tedious, wasonly good for landscapes, and pretty much eliminated anyreasonable adjustments for close-up/macro work.
