What I was looking for

Susan R, B&H Photo
6 October 2015
  • Excerpt: I use this to hold an off camera flash inside Photex Softlighter II. Make sure you don't exceed weight limit as is a "mini" ballhead.

  • Excerpt: will not hold tilted Nx30 (4lb) camera. Tightening screw is easily damaged when trying to tighten the ball. Poorly designed.

Will not clamp ball enough

Daniel, B&H Photo
8 July 2014
  • Excerpt: Cannot clamp the ball enough to hold a small mirrorless camera and lens without slipping. I have a similar Giottos MH-1004 which is the same size and it hold a much larger camera no problem. I gave it 2 stars because the material quality is still Giottos good.

Does not hold weight well.

17 June 2014
  • Excerpt: I ordered this guy to mount my Sl1 with a 40mm lens on a C-Stand. I wanted to be able to take time-lapses during weddings. When I unboxed this guy I was very impressed and loved it's movement/quick locking functionality. BUT after one wedding, the ball joint became weak.

Good little head.

  • Excerpt: I use it to hold my flash for macro work. It works, but I have to really tighten it down or the flash will drift; it is held at a really low angle.

7-lb load limit is false

Adorama
15 May 2014
  • Excerpt: This head will not lock a SB-910 (less than 2 lbs). The 7-lb load limit spec is false. I would return it, but that costs almost as much as the head does.
  • Cons: Head Does Not Lock, Unstable, Weak Clamp

I would NOT recommend

Tim C., B&H Photo
11 April 2014
  • Excerpt: I purchased this ballhead to hold a light weighing 1.3 pounds. The head is rated to support 7 pounds. I doesn't even come close to maintaining the light in the upright position. The only pro is it's low cost.
