  • Excerpt: I mounted a Wimberely Quick release plate to the camera mount, and attached a Nikon D7000 with a nikon 400mm f2.8 lens. On a tripod, the first time I used it, the 1/2 x 20 fastener on the camera plate sheared off where within the camera plate, where the side increases to 3/8 (the camera plate...

Giottos Panning Tripod Head

John Mantzefield, B&H Photo
24 February 2014
  • Excerpt: I bought this panning tripod head to use on a Manfrotto Befree Compact tripod because the head that comes with that nice piece of gear doesn't have a separate panning function. This is the fourth Giottos tripod head I've purchased and like the others works perfectly in this application-iphoneography...

Ideal Medium Ballhead

Photo Enthusiast, B&H Photo
18 February 2014
  • Excerpt: I was looking for a medium size ballhead that would securely hold my mid-size camera, an Olympus OM-D E-M1. The Giottos MH-1302 with quick release works perfectly for this application. The clamps hold the camera with the 300mm (600 mm in 35mm equivalent terms) lens very securely.
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Knob Ergonomics, Good Stability, Strong Clamp

compact & strong

14 January 2014
  • Excerpt: This head is small, light, and seems to be strong enough to hold the equipment I plan to mount on it. One small glitch. This is being used on a Sirui tripod which has legs the flip up 180 degrees to rest against the center column (in fully raised position) to reduce length for transport, BUT, the...

Perfect Small Ballhead

Tom the Old Photo Guy, B&H Photo
7 January 2014
  • Excerpt: I wanted a small ballhead for my Panasonic G5 and G1 mirrorless cameras. I had another brand which was not satisfactory for the longer telephoto lenses. This one holds extremely well. In fact, I put my Canon 40D with a 200mm F2.8 on it and is was steady as a rock.
  • Pros: Attaches Firmly, Good Stability, Large Range of Motion, Light, Small, Strong Clamp
