Doesnt stay upright

Anonymous, Newegg
24 December 2011
  • Summary: This is the second Dolica unit I got from Newegg as the first one did not include any of the handles or 2nd quick release plate. Newegg was quick to replace it for me but 2 failures in a row from Dolica and Im sure Im going to have to fight them for a replacement or refund :(
  • Pros: Seems to be sturdy construction but never got to use it.
  • Cons: Xmas eve, great time to find out the tripod I bought cant even support the weight of the included handle let alone a video camera or DSLR. The top handle would not grip tight and keep the unit from tilting over. bottom handle was fine but top never tightened and it would just tilt forward or back...

very solid

Herman B., Newegg
31 October 2011
  • Summary: I love NewEgg!
  • Pros: This tripod is very solid. Adjustments are very precision, no sticking and binding. It's very easy to adjust and has 2 levels on it along with a compass. It also has a place to hang a weight for stability. The releases for the legs are very nice and quick to use. My last tripod required a twist t...
  • Cons: Not so portable so I take it when I know I will use it or have it in the trunk as a "just in case".

Awesome Cheap CF Tripod!

Brandon O., Newegg
7 September 2011
  • Summary: Would love to have another one w/ ball head.
  • Pros: Nice tripod for the money, Can hold up to 20 lbs, Very sturdy, I usually use this with a D90 + Grip and 70-300mmVR and it works! The legs are nice but the head was pretty heavy but it's okay not that bad but i'll probably replace it with a ball head soon! I almost bought the one with the ball hea...
  • Cons: Has to take one of the head handles to fit inside the bag but it's also typical for other tripod brands as well w/ pan head.

Decent Consumer Quality

Robert W., Newegg
26 August 2011
  • Summary: Didn't have crazy expectations, considering the price. I am happy with my purchase, the $100 Shell Shocker deal helped a lot, thanks Newegg. Although there might be better alternarives at the full price.
  • Pros: Lighter than aluminum, decent leg locks, rubber feet screw in to revel spikes, preset leg angle stops. Included case is nice bonus, didn't see it in description. 2 base plates. Compass in legs is fairly accurate, yet super small. Folds down very compact. Awesome price for carbon fiber on a Shell ...
  • Cons: Calling this a Pro Quality item is a serious stretch. Fully extended, the legs are a bit shake prone. The stops on the leg angle adjuster are not spring loaded. It is possible to not get them fully engaged, and have the legs spread unexpectedly. The center column is not removable/reversible. Ther...

Good tripod, soso-head

Dean F., Newegg
7 December 2009
  • Summary: Not something you would want to lug around for a digital point and shoot, but a nice stable tripod for heavier cameras.
  • Pros: Rigid, stable tripod.
  • Cons: Purchased 2 from NewEgg, one head broke (casting near the bottom). Did not return the tripod, legs alone are well worth the price.
