Summary: I bought this to have in my hill-walking backpack as it's nice and light. Apart from that it has proved useful as a stand for an off-camera flash-gun. In use, as a camera tripod, it is noisy, jerky and looks embarrassingly cheap. However, weighted down, it does keep the camera steady - even in the winds atop the Cumbrian Fells. Its saving grace is that it's so light it can be carried over Striding Edge up onto Helvellyn and you wouldn't know you were carrying it.
