Excerpt: The DF-483-Nikon has some great power for its small build. You gotta love all the features it comes with, such as, bounce card, built in diffuser, ttl, sttl, optical slave mode and everything else. They add so much versatility giving this mid-range flash so many uses. What worries me a bit is the build quality. The battery pannel and diffuser card seems like they will easily break off simply by using them over time.
Excerpt: This speedlight performs well in off-camera mode. It can be set to fire as a slave on 1st flash or delayed until a 2nd through 9th flash trips it. It's easy to set it up in TTL or Manual mode. On-camera in TTL mode using my Nikon D5200, shots are consistently overexposed. It is necessary to use the flash and/or camera exposure compensation to cut down on the brightness.
Pros: Compact, Consistent Output, Durable, Easy To Use, Fast Recycling, Lightweight
Excerpt: The Vivitar DF-483-CAN was all it was advertised to be. It is solid, does the job it was made for, and was a great value for the cost. I liked the add-on features of a diffuser lens and a light deflector panel, both of which pull out easily from the top. I am a happy customer.
Excerpt: I wanted to try flash photography and did't want to spend a tone of money for the Nikon flash so I went with this Vivitar. I used it to shoot my daughter family, her husband and my grandchild. As much as I liked it I think I hated it as well. The shots that came out were great and the one that didnt come out were real bad, not sure why yet, flash overpowered most of the time. I do think that was my fault because I'm not real sure on the settings yet.
Excerpt: The basic flash seems to function well. The slave unit only works once in a while. I don't know how it will hold up over time because I have not had it that long. So if you don't need the slave function it's well worth taking a chance on the flash, since it costs much less than a Nikon.
Excerpt: This unit provided the level of light I need when using it a my shooting Locations. I really enjoy the speed of resetting and the flexible ranges. I would recommend this unit to all photographers.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easy To Use, Fast Recycling, Powerful Output, Versatile
