TTL did not work on a6000 w/ MI adapter

This is Peter, B&H Photo
8 September 2014
  • Excerpt: I bought this product to use with a Sony multi-interface adapter on my Sony a6000 camera. It seemed like much more flash for less money than the Sony HVL-F20M, which is designed to work natively with the a6000 (and a7).However, while this attaches fine to the Sony multi-interface adapter, I couldn't get the TTL function to work with the camera.

Fantastic

  • Excerpt: No other flash in this price range comes close. Works exactly as advertised and is fantastic in full manual, as an off camera flash whith a radio trigger. I would like to be able to turn the power down even more sometimes to 1/32 or 1/64 for when you need just alittle light in tight quarters, but for the most part this is my new favorite for a great price!

Powerful and adaptable

rikipedia, B&H Photo
6 February 2013
  • Excerpt: I have a DSLR with built-in-flash but it is weak and set right above the lens, as most are. Lots of red eye shots. The Vivitar has great reach with it's extendable snout and all the power I need. Lifting the flash away from the lens also avoids red-eyed monsters. The carry case is too tight and there's no separate place to store batteries. However, the description above, provided by B&H is incomplete This flash has settings for 28,35,50 and 85 mm focal lengths also.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Powerful Output

  • Excerpt: I can not tell how good it is because it only work for a short time.[...] I did sent it to NJ and 40 days has gone by and I do not have it back yet.The factory support is very slow. I may have to purchase another flash if this one is not returned soon. For sure, it wont be a Vivitar and it will be from B&H

Manufacturer's warranty

Don, B&H Photo
30 March 2011
  • Excerpt: Purchased unit from B&H and it never seemed to work quite right. Thought it was me until it stopped working completely. [...] Sent unit to Vivitar warranty, which is a company called Sakar International in New Jersey. Although they were nice and made repeated promises about a replacement unit, after nearly 3 months of promises I am still without a flash. I will never buy a Vivitar unit again!
  • Cons: Did not sync to camera, Red eye did not work, Stopped working within yr

Move Over Canon Speedlite!

bryan, B&H Photo
3 January 2011
  • Excerpt: After awaiting my Speedlite 430EXII purchase since I decided it was a better purchase than the 580EXII I saw this Vivitar flash offered. Under $100? Really? OK! Done. It's amazing...maybe not as fast in recovery, but every bit worth an external flash if one needs it!!!
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Lightweight, Versatile
  • Cons: Not as slow as implied, Slow Recycling
