This is a great product

  • Summary: I have tried several flash diffusers but find the Stofen Omni-Bounce to be the best and most convenient to use.
  • Pros: Ease of Use, Great Results
  • Cons: none

A very effective flash

  • Summary: I find this flash excellent for use on my Sony A700. I use it in conjunction with two Minolta 5600D HS. The F58 is simple to operate and quite versatile. I especially value its ability to handle several wireless flashes individually. It is powerful enough for general work indoors and outdoors. Like the 5600 a battery pack is available for heavy use.
  • Pros: Attach Securely, Even Light Source, Powerful, Versatility
  • Cons: Somewhat expensive

A "must have" for serious photographers.

  • Summary: This is the third flash I have bought from B&H and the second HVL-F58AM. I also own the 56AM. Obviously if I didn't think it was an awesome investment I wouldn't have it. It allows you to capture images the popup will not. Perfect.
  • Pros: Attach Securely, Even Light Source, Long Lasting, Powerful

Super Flash power but costly.

  • Summary: It works perfect with my Sony A350 and as a stand alone with the little feet to hold it as a wireless/slave. Having the flash move for vertical shots saves space without having a external bulky flash holder. Comes with its own zipper bag with a belt loop.
  • Pros: Compact

Sony HVL F58AM: Good Product That Gets Good Results!

  • Summary: When you first open the pouch the flash comes in (which is good quality) you will be pleasantly surprised! The flash, although incredibly plasticy, feels relatively sturdy! On inserting a set of batteries and pressing test, you will get a nice, high powered flash of light to greet you! I find the rear interface a little clunky at times but with a bit of work you can easily get great results!
  • Pros: Reasonable build quality, Good power rating, Well thought out movement on both axis
  • Cons: Stupid Sony hotshoe mount

People pay me to flash at them!

  • Excerpt: "...on camera speedlights for my Sony DSLR`s, I have a few non Sony brand ones that all have their own purpose and I have two Sony brand ones, the Sony HVL F42AM, which I have reviewed in the past and the Sony HVL-F58AM which I am reviewing today. One rule for anyone taking photography serious is that light is everything! No matter how good the camera or the photographer using it, if the light is poor then you will get poor images. On camera flashes ...
  • Pros: Looks good, well built, fully TTL, wireless capabillity, tilts and swivels and I could go on .
  • Cons: May seem expensive to some but other than that nothing .

People pay me to flash at them!

  • Summary: There are many things that separate a professional photographer from an amateur photographer, there is usually a big difference in the equipment they will use, there is quite often a determination and the will to go the extra mile to get the best photo for the professional as they are being paid for their work, there is of course experience but over and above all of those is that a professional photographer like myself will understand light and know how to get the best...
  • Pros: Looks good, well built, fully TTL, wireless capabillity, tilts and swivels and I could go on.
  • Cons: May seem expensive to some but other than that nothing.
