Great Flash for Food Shots!

20 July 2014
  • Excerpt: I work in the food industry and this flash is great for taking "beauty shots" of food for publication. It takes the shadows out where you need to and can give you a "three dimensional" appearance as well!
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight, Versatile
  • Cons: 58mm Adapter Not Included

Macro Flash Adapter size change-Not Good

Kansas Kate, B&H Photo
8 July 2014
  • Excerpt: I recently purchased the EM-140 DG Macro Ringlight Flash for Canon EOS by Sigma...After installing the batteries, I pulled out the adapter rings to fit on my new Canon 100mm Macro lens which takes a 58mm size filter. Unfortunately, Sigma has stopped bundling a 58mm size in with the 55mm size. I found this out by a yellow piece of paper inside the box telling me that they are now bundling 62mm in with the 55mm.

Slightly awkward, but great results

  • Excerpt: I use this for macro plant photography. I chose it over the Nikon flash because the side flashes are embedded in the ring instead of exposed and more likely to catch on something, also because it takes AA batteries instead of special batteries. I worried that flashes from both sides would wash out the subject, but the photos are wonderfully textured and nuanced.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Good construction
  • Cons: Bulky

  • Excerpt: I love doing macro and close-up photography. I find using the flash simple and its connection to auto focus is sweet. It fills in the shadows and extenuated detail well.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight

Great flash

  • Excerpt: This perfectly serves my purposes. I use this for dental photography, and the photos are great. I have read complaints that this ring flash is not a "true" ring flash, but rather, it has two flashes on opposite sides of a circular design. For me, this is enough, but make sure you know what you are buying.
