Excerpt: This would be a fine unit except for that battery door. The complex slide & hinge mechanism is already weakening and I fear may break and cripple the flash. Why don't they just use old-fashioned slide off doors that slip into a long groove? I have a 2-AA manual only Braun flash more than 40 years old with such a battery door, and it still work perfectly.
Excerpt: An excellent mid range flash. It shares the controls layout with AF540 which gives user great direct access to features (only the dial is stiffer on AF360). I hate the 4 buttons on Metz 48. Also the build quality seems better than Metz48, which I use in Canon system.
Summary: Great flash unit. It installed easily, is very "smart" and is more than adequate for my modest demands and skills. I have not begun to use many of the features. Its first use was at a party where I was "drafted" at the last minute to take pictures. The room was poorly lighted but the resulting photographs were very well exposed. Highly recommended.
Summary: This was my first tripod of any quality utilizing a ballhead...I bought it mainly because I do alot of photo walks and needed something that was light but could also be used indoors without paying a thousand million dollars. I was/am very pleased with this tripod - If you are using long, heavy glass I would look further, but if your equipment is medium to light, this is a wonderfully secure, easily adjustable mechanism for an incredible price.
Summary: I really like the flash. It is very easy to use and is very reliable. I got it along with a Gary Fong filter and it is taking some work to get consistant good shot with the two products together. I wish that I had spent a bit more money on the next flash up that pivots. I would really like to be able to bounce light off of the ceiling while shooting in portrait view. All in all it is worth the money.
Summary: Easy to use. Fast enough recharge. Affordable. Able to go wireless. 2 things. While I haven't used the 540, I'd probably buy it over this one due to the lack of swivel alone. If you don't find yourself taking portrait oriented photos in low light, its not an issue at all though. also, i find turning the autozoom off in most low light situations. set to around 50mm, and keep the pttl on, makes a huge difference.
Summary: If I could, I RATE THIS PRODUCT 2.75 Stars. I agree with an earlier review in that this Pentax flash unit is mechanically very disappointing and certainly not worthy of the Pentax name. In no way does this product represent the Japanese Quality and Solid Designs of the 80's that we have all become sentimental about.
Summary: Perfect addition to my K100D It uses less battery life than the camera when in a pinch, I've been able to switch out the batteries to increase my camera's life while still being able to use the flash.
